The beautiful weather returns!

Clear sunny skies and a high around 26C (79F). Perfect! The clear skies do bring some cooler nights, but it's nice sleeping weather. Woke up this morning and it was 5C (41F) outside, however the sun is shining and it's starting to warm up already. Looks to be another beautiful day here in the mountains south of Guadalajara!

It was a little cool inside the motorhome when we woke up this morning, so this is the perfect time to tell you about our new little electric heater. We bought this specifically to use just to take the chill off in the mornings, and the reason we bought it is because it's only a 200 watt electric heater. This means that we can use it with our batteries and inverter on days when we are expecting to have a lot of sunshine.

We bought it at Walmart when we were crossing through the U.S.
Best part...? It was only $7.99!

Yesterday morning, Barb went into Mazamitla to use the bank machine, so I decided to get some more cash as well. And we stopped at a "ferreteria", a hardware store, to buy some "brocas", drill bits that Sal needed for the new construction.

Then, Barb took us into Valle de Juarez to pick up the tree that we had ordered for Whiskey's burial spot. Sure enough, Pedro the plant guy had remembered, and we bought a nice Bottle Brush tree for 120 pesos ($9.36).

Whiskey's tree. We will plant it today!

There's already a pretty flower on Whiskey's tree.

The tiles were delivered for the main floor of the new building, and the workers were hard at it. I'll try and get some pictures today. We were supposed to go for a late lunch in town because it was Sal's mother's birthday, but because the workers were trying to make up for lost time during all the rain last week, we didn't get out until almost suppertime.

Out for dinner with Sal's mom.

This restaurant brings you all kinds of different appetizers for free while you're waiting for your meal. Every five minutes or so they would show up with something different! You're almost full before your meal arrives! It was really good and we're going to try and return there again.

The restaurant had a really pretty cactus garden.

After the meal, we wandered around town. Sal grew up in Valle de Juarez, so he still has a lot of family there. It seemed like every couple of minutes he met someone he knew and we were introduced to more family and friends. The town is only a few minutes drive from the campground so it's nice to be able to wander around or go for a meal or pick up necessities.

The sunshine is back!

  7. Once again, you touched me. I have two very good doggies buried at the foot of my trumpet vine. It is one of my only regrets in leaving my house. Whiskey was lucky to have you.

  8. Perfect memorial bush. Seems like this was the perfect place to spend your first few weeks in Mexico, quiet but busy enough if you want.

  15. Kenny and Angela...So are we!

George and Suzie...The electric heater is good enough to take the chill off things. It wouldn't be good enough to heat the motorhome in real cold weather.

WBY...We think it is a pretty tree too, and a hardy one because we need it to survive the frost.

Jim and Sandie...Thank you. It will be nice to see it planted.

Sam and Donna...Yep, nice to have the sun back again. That tree should grow to about 15ft so is should give some nice shade. We look forward to seeing it in a few years time.

    Sue and Doug...Thank you!

Bob...Yes everything looks better with the sunshine, thanks.

Michael...A trumpet vine is so pretty, I am sure they miss you too. We were lucky to have her.

Contessa...We think the tree is perfect too. Yes, we are enjoying the relaxation here. Now the nice weather is back we will try to get more hiking in.

Chuck and Anneke...Nice to have the sun back again. The tree will help mark her site for us.

Paul...Thanks for stopping by. We hope to make it to New Zealand some day soon. I have relatives in England so we try and visit when we can, hopefully we will we get over there next summer.

    Ron...We sure think it is.

    Janie and John...So are we.

heyduke...It is the life isn't it!
