Barra de Colotopec (day 2)

Yesterday we just lazed around. We are beside the Colotopec River and so Ruth and Lindsey took Cameron down to the river to cool off. The locals from the mountains come down to this spot on weekends and lie in the river all day long.

When we first arrived here three years ago, we were able to park Sherman right beside the river. But every year, the river changes course a little bit, and now that spot isn't so nice.

This picture was actually taken 3 years ago, but I put it up just to show you how the locals enjoy the river, usually with all of their clothes on!

Now, you're all waiting for the verdict on the papaya. Well, papaya is not our favorite fruit to begin with. It's not overly sweet, and has a distinctive flavor. Now, whether or no this "draining" of the acid from the skin makes any difference or not is tough to tell, but it is logical that it should. On further discussion, Alfredo says that if you don't do this, you will notice that the corners of your mouth become sore because that's where the acid has the most effect. Does it affect the flavor? We're not sure. I think papaya is best eaten as part of a fruit salad with pineapple and cantaloupe or something like that.
