Cuernavaca

Yesterday, we did the drive to Cuernavaca. We left Acapulco just after 9:00am and got on the toll highway towards Mexico City.

This is a beautiful four lane highway going all the way from Acapulco to Mexico City. We exited a few miles south of Cuernavaca, a distance of 300 kms (186 miles) from where we started. Great scenery along the way, although it's a fairly expensive highway. For the motorhome, we paid 710 pesos ($56.80) in tolls. Because the tolls are so expensive, we pretty much had the highway to ourselves. Despite the cost, it was a beautiful drive.

Pretty much had the highway to ourselves most of the drive.

Scenery along the way.

Spending our toll money on maintenance.

More work being done along the way.

I thought the guy in the excavator was a little bit nuts!

More scenery.

Coming into the city of Chilpancingo. Notice that it is getting cloudy as we head north.

Sharp curve...slow down....!

This was taken from a huge bridge way high up.

We arrived at the Diamante Campestre Park at around 1:30pm. We had stopped several times, and we also stopped and filled up our propane. We'll tell you more about this trailer park in tomorrow's post. It was cloudy all afternoon, and last night it started raining fairly hard and it's still raining this morning. This is the first rain we have had since the middle of October!

  1. Yep, the rains have come for a bit in Valle de Juarez too. It started last night and from the satellite and weather forecast, it looks like it will be here for a couple days.

  2. Wow. They're actually wearing hard hats on that road works site. Wonder if the work is contracted to a private company?
Nice road though. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

  3. I think most of the tool roads in Mexico are worth the money, usually they are in good repair and must less wear and tear on your rig. And you can make better time. Awesome scenery.

  5. Another beautiful photo. When we traveled in Mexico I remember how surprised I was by the cost of the toll roads, but I had to admit, the toll roads were so much better than many of the others. They aren't too big on safety at construction sites, are they?!
