But, Ruth did make some ginger bread in the motorhome, and we taught Emilio, one of the local kids how to play Yahtzee. Good math game for an 8 year old, plus good practice for us doing our numbers in Spanish.
Because it was Sunday, it was also quite busy on the lake. Lots of people waterskiing during the morning when it was calm, and then a lot of sailboats taking advantage of the afternoon breeze.
Lots of people boating on a beautiful day.
We've been trying to figure out our summer. We're actually looking for a house sitting opportunity in the UK or Europe, and we've applied for a couple of them but haven't heard back from the people. Maybe they have had so many applications that they haven't responded to everybody, but I think that's kind of rude.
We also found an interesting house sit for Puerto Escondido here in Mexico, but it's for five months and we're not sure we want to stay in one place that long, even though we love Puerto Escondido. We've contacted the people though, so maybe we'll find out a little more info. We also want to fly back to Canada, but our timing of that depends on Ruth's father and his sort-of scheduled hip operation. The great Canadian health care system has him on the list for a hip operation in late April or early May, but that could easily get put off for a month or two or more. And Ruth would like to be there to help him out for a few weeks after his operation.
Or, we could stay the summer at one of our other favorite places in Mexico, Hacienda Contreras. If we do that, we will at some point fly back to Canada and pick up our car and drive it back here before continuing on in September to South America.
So many choices. We love not knowing which one of them is going to come together!
looks like another great Ho Hum day in the sun.
ReplyDeleteRather a perfect day you had there. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Have fun deciding.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect to me too... just hanging out and enjoying your visit!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun & Travel safe
Donna
A wonderful day relaxing on the beach and thinking about what to do, the possibilities are endless and whatever you do will be another great adventure.
ReplyDeleteSuch tough decisions!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend! I can't imagine waiting months and months, (probably in pain) for Canada to decide when it is convenient to do the operation. Thank goodness we live in the US! (And this is what OBummer wants for us?)
ReplyDeleteYour spot is lovely. I can see why you haven't left.
ReplyDeleteDon't envy you on the decision making. I will say that 5 months is a long time...especially when you two are use to traveling so much. We look forward to reading about your decision. ~wheresweaver
Hola, We are not as young as you2 but still enjoy the adventure of travel in MX. We have been workkamping in the US, but plan to return to MX soon. We have lived in Ajijic in our Sisters' home, but plan to go to Hacienda Contreras, probably in May. We love the rainy season in Jalisco. We are particularly interested in your solar setup. If we stayed in RV parks, would the solar really be a necessity. We have a class C 31 ft RV. Love your blog, LOVE Mexico. C, H, and Boo too
ReplyDeleteWe would be willing to do 2 1/2 months in Puerto Escondido if you are willing to do the other half.
ReplyDeleteWow, S. America in September? I gues we missed that post! Is it for sure, or just planning still? Sounds amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteNothing is ever "for sure" until we're actually doing it!
DeleteWe have some Canadian friends and they were telling us that there is a law that says they have to be in Canada 6 months out of the year. Is that incorrect as it seems you guys won't be in Canada much at all this year? Love seeing all the places you guys are visiting.
ReplyDeleteThere is no "law". What your friends are talking about is their Canadian health care. Each province is slightly different, but basically if you are out of the country for more than six months you lose your Canadian health coverage. Then, you would have to return for three months before it would be re-instated. The province of Alberta does not have this three month waiting period.
DeletePlus in BC at least, you can be out of Canada once every 5 years for 18 months and be covered.
ReplyDeleteYes, and Ontario has a similar "long term" out of country deal you can apply for.
