Sore muscles

A little late getting to the blog post this morning. We've been busy making more travel plans, and we'll be able to tell you about them soon! In the meantime, we're keeping busy in Somerset, England. Only a week and a half to go until we leave for our six week tour of Eastern Europe!

While Ruth was enjoying a nice day out with her cousin Helen and dog Chester, I went to work with Helen's husband Tony. He had to install drywall on a ceiling in a renovation he's doing and that's a job for at least two sets of hands. And arms. And shoulders. And all of the other muscles that I haven't used for a while. It actually went pretty well though and I enjoyed getting out and doing something different for a change. But I admit that there are a few sore muscles this morning! While we have been very good at getting aerobic exercise in the five years since we sold our house, we do need to make more effort to do muscular activity for the upper body. Going to have to get back into doing push ups and such things.

Ruth, Helen, and Chester drove over to the gardens at Lytes Cary Manor, a National Trust property. They went to the free section only where you could walk around the surrounding property, although you could pay to see the gardens and the interior of the building. But it was a nice day anyhow.

There was quite a bit of blue sky yesterday.

Even Tony and I managed to sit in the sun and have our lunch. So it was nice to enjoy the clear weather because it didn't last long. It is raining again while I type this!

Checking out some more rail fares for Britain. This is for when we have returned to the U.K. in September. We need to book as far in advance as possible in order to get the good deals. In fact, I found one deal for taking the train that is almost as cheap as taking the bus! How about £16.00 ($26.00) total for the two of us to go from Manchester to Birmingham. Wait a minute, what will we be doing back in Manchester again? Stay tuned...

  3. Such Manicured Manors!
Re: upper body fitness, our solution was to slowly pump (curl) hand dumbbells while taking long walks. Started with 3 lbs and now at 6 lbs. It kills two birds with one stone. We also invented overhead arm extensions for triceps and a couple other exercises. It really works you out on a long walk.
    Travel on!
