We can see the sea!

We've been in England for about a month now and yesterday we had our first view of the sea. Well, it was the Bristol Channel actually, but it does look out into the sea!

We drove to a place called Sand Bay where there is a National Trust hiking area, and did a 4.5 mile (7.3km) hike.

Helen, Ruth, Chester, and Tony.

A rocky beach.

Notice the jackets in the above pic. The sun came out occasionally, but there was a cool breeze. It did spit with rain at times as well.

Taking a break on the rocks.

The Woodspring Priory.

The inland part of the trail brought us to The Woodspring Priory, a monastery dating back to 1210. The church was built in stages though, with the tower being completed in the late 1400's. Now, part of it is a museum, but it is only open Monday's and Friday's.

The facade of the old barn on the site of the priory. It was also built in the 15th century.

Came across this rock surrounded by wildflowers.

Hiking out to the point.

It was a good day. Not July weather yet, but we didn't get drenched with rain either. Came home and had a great dinner of sausage and peas and chips, with strawberries for desert. Then we watched the animated movie "Rio". Good for a laugh or two.

  6. Those last two pictures are gorgeous. Love seeing pictures of the two of you together in the great places you take us to. I think I might be able to spend a year in England and another in Ireland and another in Scotland. They are all so beautiful.
