We had no problem getting checked in and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were lucky and got a room on the top (fifth) floor facing the ocean so we had a nice view. When we opened the door, it was noticeably colder in the room, but I figured out how to turn the heat up and it didn't take long to warm up.
The view out our fifth floor window at the CenterHotel Klopp.
One of the reasons it was a bit chilly in the room was that there was a strong wind facing this side of the building and one of the windows has a broken latch and it wouldn't close tightly. This was fine for us because we would have likely opened a window a bit anyhow, but if it were any colder out it may have been a problem. And, the main light in the bathroom didn't work, but that wasn't a problem either because the two mirror lights were bright enough.
Our room.
The room itself was perfect for us. Fairly small, but we're used to living in a motorhome so we don't notice small rooms anymore! No complaints at all, and the bed and the pillows were very comfy. We didn't hear any odd noises through the night and we slept very well. I had a shower last night before bed, and no complaints there either.
Nice and comfy!
There's complimentary coffee and tea in the rooms, and so we took advantage of that before heading down to see what the buffet breakfast had to offer. One of the huge benefits of staying with CenterHotels Reykjavik is that breakfast is included with your room rate.
No complaints at all with breakfast!
Breakfast was more than decent, with lots of fresh meats and cheese and rolls and breads and toast and fruits and cereals. Orange juice was good too!
For us, it's all about value. Our room was €75 ($93.75) per night. Considering this hotel is right in downtown Reykjavik, it's a decent deal for what you get. Breakfast included is the way to go here, since restaurant breakfasts are expensive on their own, and the room rate itself is on the lower end of the scale anyhow. My only complaint with the room rate is that it should be priced in Icelandic Korona's, which is the local currency.
The lobby.
Bright and cheery breakfast area.
In conclusion, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend CenterHotel Klopp. We will advise them of the two minor problems we had with the window latch and the non working bathroom light, and other than that our stay was perfect. Tonight, we move on the the CenterHotel Arnarhvoll!
CenterHotel Klopp.
No where to surf locally? Hotels always seem to charge a rate and in a currency that avoids discounts. I've noticed this around the world.
ReplyDeleteNice view from the CenterHotel Klopp - I like this one. The breakfast buffet bar looks yummy. I see they served watermelon - yum!
