Happy to be Home!

We left Zacatecas around 9:30am yesterday morning. We've done this exact drive before with the motorhome so we knew what to expect and where to turn. However we had to go through the city of Aguascalientes and there are several ways to do that. The route we had done with Sherman last year was terrible and full of potholes, so we chose a different route. Got lucky, because it was all fresh, brand new pavement!

It was still really busy though. We carried right on through the city because we've been there before. Although if you've never been there the central area is worth a visit.

For anyone doing the north to south route through the city, this is the best way to go!

The city of Aguascalientes has a huge Nissan factory on the south side of town. The factory is doing so well that Nissan has commissioned a second plant to be built and it is going to be huge as well.

South of Aguascalientes, we took the most direct route towards Hacienda Contreras. We've been on this road before with the motorhome, and it was in terrible condition. So bad that we would never take that road with and RV again. But we figured it would be fine with the little blue car, and it was...but we would still never take it again. Would suggest any route besides this one...

But, we made it through all that and at the next major intersection it was clear sailing as all the trucks went back on the main highway. We stopped in the city of Sahuayo which is the last larger city near our destination and did some grocery shopping to stock up a little bit because Sherman's cupboards would be pretty bare! Deal of the day? Well there's two of them...a litre of amber rum for 72 pesos ($5.76) and two grapefruits for 2 pesos (16 cents!!) each. I love Mexico!

Pulled in to Hacienda Contreras around 4:00pm. Sherman was happy to see us, and so was Sal. Barb is back in Chicago right now because her father is ill, but hopefully we'll get to see her soon too! Donkey and Bella and all the animals are doing fine, and we think all of the trees have grown in the last six months too.

Whiskey's tree is doing fine, but no blooms yet this season.

Temperature went down to 10C (50F) inside the motorhome last night, but we were nice and comfy in our own bed. Now, it's a bright sunny day with a high of about 24C (76F). Perfect!
