Lots of Christmas Cheer!

Most of the day yesterday was spent preparing for last night's big Christmas Eve feast. Here at Hacienda Contreras, we had all planned a potluck dinner for Christmas Eve, with everybody bringing a special dish or two. And what a feast we had!

The ladies all got together just after noon hour to prepare the tamales. Sal's sister Juana came over to help and instruct on the proper technique.

Juana making the tamale mixture.

The pork filling.

Spreading the corn mixture onto a husk.

And then adding the meat filling.

Ready for steaming!

These tamales are delicious and I'm happy that there's enough left over for lunch today!

Here's Niko guarding the food!

And lots of food there was!

Christmas is for kids, and we even have one here! Cassia and her mom Teresa enjoying the festivities.

Group photo.

Merry Christmas!!
