Miserable start to the day!

Very strange weather yesterday morning! We actually woke up to raindrops on the roof, and it was chilly and windy all morning. It's not normal to get any rain at all down here at this time of year, and it actually came down fairly hard at times.

And although the rain stopped mid-morning, we sure didn't see much of the sun all day.

But we didn't let it stop us from having a good afternoon and evening. We planned for a 1:00pm hike to the El Salto waterfalls on the other side of Mazamitla. We invited the rest of the campers, and six of us took off to see the falls.

Ruth and I have been to these falls a couple of times before. It's only about a 2 km walk each way from the parking area, but it's through a picturesque area and there are lots of interesting rental cabanas and weekend homes that a lot of people from Guadalajara use.

Now this is a poinsettia! The poinsettia is indigenous to Mexico, and it's known here as "nochebuenas".

From there, we walked back to the entrance. It never rained on us, but the sun didn't come out either. We still had a nice afternoon though. From there, we went into Mazamitla and wandered around a bit.

The town of Mazamitla is decorated for Guadalupe Day (today!) and Christmas.

We had planned on going into Valle de Juarez for enchilada dinner, but it turned out they were closed for some reason. Was really looking forward to enchiladas, but we settled for fajitas back in Mazamitla.

Once again, Ruth and I split a single plate of fajitas and it was just enough!

The sun is shining again this morning and it appears our weather is back to normal. So whatever weather system we had appears to have gone on it's way!
