I went for a stroll at the lake yesterday morning and took some photos. Pretty quiet around here during the Monday to Friday period. Get's quite a bit busier on the weekends though.
Lago Avandaro
The lake is buzzing with waterskiing, sailing, and jetskis on the weekends.
Came across this pretty flower.
Ruth, admiring the view from our balcony.
Our view.
Our weekend neighbours, Paco and Oty, left their hammock out for us to use. Sure is a comfortable little spot. Must have been the Mexicans who invented hammocks and siestas!
ZZZZzzzzz.....
We had seen a "pollo rostizado" (roast chicken) stand on the road near here so we decided to go pick up some for dinner. Cost was 60 pesos ($4.80) for a whole roast chicken with salsa and salad. Would have been another 15 pesos ($1.20) for potatoes too, but they were all out. So Ruth made up some rice and cauliflower to go with it. Delicious, and we have enough chicken left over for lunch today.
Should be a great weekend! Top of the volcano today, then meeting up with our friends Paco and Oty on the outskirts of the city of Toluca at 5:00pm. Spending two nights with them at their home in Toluca, and doing some exploring of the area. Looking forward to it!
That sounds like quite hike up to that elevation, hope the day is clear enough for you.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love those chickens. And the bones make such a great soup stock too. Throw them in a bag that you get fresh veggies in and put in freezer until ready to simmer for an hour or two.
ReplyDeleteAbout time you gave those poor feet the day off...
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the real deal adventure travelers...
gracias
Sue and I lived in Colorado for many years and often went up over 10,000 but 15,000 is a whole other ballgame. Good luck on being able to breath up there. The air is very thin and energy goes away very quickly. I never made to to 14,000 and I had years of aclimation...........B
ReplyDeleteSurpisinly enough we did just fine. Definitely slow going but we had no problems.
DeleteWow...15k feet. Now that's a hike!
ReplyDeleteHope you have better luck with your climb than we did with ours in Ecuador ... the winds were too brutal, and since we're not into doing things for the bragging rights, we decided to turn back after 600 feet ... just wasn't having fun. Slow and easy; stay hydrated.
ReplyDeleteYep, slow and easy is definitely the way to go. Had lots of water but we really didn't have any major issues.
