Lunch out with the crew

Sal's cousin Chema owns a restaurant here in Valle de Juarez, and Chema's son owns one closer to the campground. A lot of the campers over the winter frequent the restaurants (as well as Chema's Saturday carnita stand) and so he wanted to thank the campers for their business!

So he arranged to feed us all lunch yesterday....for only 50 pesos ($4.20) each, just to cover his costs! We had appetizers and chicken and grilled meat and chorizo sausage and salads and wine and tequila.

Most of the campers from Hacienda Contreras.

Chema himself, in charge of grilling the meat.

We had a rare thunderstorm pass through later yesterday afternoon! Lots of thunder and lightning and interesting clouds in the sky. And even a rainshower for 10 minutes! Then, a bit of rainbow.

You can see a bit of a rainbow rising above Sherman.

Sherman and the little blue car enjoying a pretty sunset.

It was a big lunch and we didn't need much for supper! We've got a big pot of leftover chicken soup, so Ruth invited Tioga George to have a bowl of soup with us for dinner. We enjoy talking with George about a variety of things...movies, travel, blogging, Mexico...lots of interesting discussion!

It looks like a perfect morning to wash Sherman's roof so I want to get that done before the sun gets too strong, and then I've got an appointment to finish up with my dental work this morning.

  1. Yesterday, after reading about Tioga Gearge's blog woes, I said to Shelagh "Kevin and Ruth will probably help him get it back together"

Nice to see that that's exactly what happened!

    You guys are awesome!

    1. When Kevin woke up in the morning and saw George's post he was looking to see what he could do to help. We are glad things worked out well for George.

  2. Such a nice guy to make all that food for such a little cost. $4.20 doesn't even sound like enough to cover he cost.

    Enjoy washing day.

    1. That's one of the reasons that we love Mexico, most food costs aren't nearly as much as in Canada or the United States.

  3. Thanks for helping Tioga George with his blog. We would miss him without the blogging.

It's been fun following you all over the world. Thanks for all the posts.

    Howdy R&K,
THANK YOU, KEVIN, for helping fix T&G's blog-site!!! That would have been a loss to so many people worldwide, but leave it to the RCMP to come to the rescue, with Fang, and straighten it all out!!! Mil gracias a Chema!!! That whole family is a great find for y'all... Be sure and don't pick up any hitch-hikers on your way to Alberta... hee hee Hope the trip goes as easy as the Guatemala one did!!!! Be safe and have lots of fun!!!!
