Yesterday, Ruth went into town with a group from the campground to see the Palm Sunday reenactment of Jesus arriving in Jerusalem.
Here comes Jesus and his crew!
And there's the donkey waiting to carry Jesus into Jerusalem.
Apparently Jesus rode a donkey because the animal is a symbol of peace.
Lots of people out enjoying the day.
Lots of flowery palm fronds.
Even the kids get in on the act.
Jesus, riding in to town!
Celebrations continue all week as children here are now on spring break and many workers have holidays. There will be another big procession on Friday as Jesus is led up the hill to be crucified.
What a wonderful way to celebrate the begging of Holy Week.
ReplyDeleteYes, I enjoyed seeing how they celebrate and the whole town seems to get involved.
DeleteQuite a different celebration that what The Odd Essay is experiencing in Spain this week.
ReplyDeleteAnother great day of celebrations for you to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteSemana Santa in Costa Rica was mostly a drunken free-for-all. With many accidents and sometimes fatalities. I used to steer clear of most of it.
ReplyDeleteThis looks pretty sedate.
Great photos of the celebrations! Enjoy Easter!
ReplyDeleteSemana Santa in Mexico is a fabulous celebration. We'll just miss Easter as we head south of the Border April 1!
ReplyDeleteThe man portraying Jesus looks like the gentleman on the black horse at the parade downtown the other day.
ReplyDeleteYou are very observant catman, it is indeed the same gentleman.
