I measured the place. It seems bigger than this, but it's only just over 600 sq ft. I guess when you're used to living in a 225 sq foot motorhome, then anything almost three times larger seems huge. Funny, but we both commented on the waste of space between the kitchen and the living room!
Ruth, coming out of our "cabin". There are four crabapple trees in the front. They'll look really pretty in a few weeks.
Living room.
Kitchen, complete with 1960's table and chairs.
Our bedroom. Pretty tough to take a worthwhile picture of an 8x10 room! Yes, everything is white. Gonna have to get a duvet cover to color things up a little!
Bedroom #2. Again, 8x10. That's a hideabed couch.
And, the facilities.
And so that's our living space for the next five months or so. Pretty happy with it actually! Not much left to do except some caulking around the shower stall. Oh, and get a range. The oven isn't working in the current one, and I took it apart and I think it needs a new control. They're almost $100 to get one, so I've already started looking for a used stove and oven and I think I've found one for $40. We'll see.
On to other news, the backhoe came yesterday morning to reroute the water from one of the culverts.
So the water drains in the right place!
Unfortunately, the damage is done and besides the road leading down to the boat launch, there's one dirt road that's going to need quite a bit of work, as well as at least four of our campsites.
The water was supposed to be flowing on the right side of those rocks! This is actually the road leading to three of the campsites.
Site # 4 is going to need a lot of work!
And #15.
And #14.
But that's okay. Because they bought me a toy that I can use to fix all of these problems!!! A little four wheel drive diesel tractor with a hydraulic bucket! It's used, but it's got really low hours on it!
Well you have probably seen the news! We have 6" of snow that started last night. It started yesterday as rain last night it was pouring then in the night it turned to snow brrrr, I must admit it is very pretty but thats all. I have a Dr appt so Phil is taking me I have not driven in this stuff for many years. The highways around here are closed due to snow and flooding. I love the place you are staying it is a place I would love
ReplyDeleteWendy
Yuck, that sounds terrible Wendy! I'm glad that we didn't get it here. Hope it doesn't stick around too long for you. Looking forward to seeing you up here at the park this summer.
DeleteCute! I actually had living room furniture just like that in the 80's. Too funny. And Kevin sure looks like he will be enjoying his new toys. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up our family also had a set like that.
DeleteI think you are going to have a fun summer. Yet another adventure with different toys. Looking forward to sharing it with you.
ReplyDeleteWe think we will too!
DeleteThe outside picture of your "cabin" makes it look like a regular house to me. Pretty big. 600sq ft is surprising. How did you get that bedroom picture? Hanging from the ceiling? LOL
ReplyDeleteLooks like a real mess there. Sure hope you know how to use that big toy. Guess you must have kept all your winter clothes and are glad you did now.
Carry on...........
The outside makes it look bigger partly because of the "basement" crawl space but that is not a livable area, just good for storage. Kevin stood in the corner of the room on a chair.
DeleteOur "winter" clothes aren't really wintery. They are good for the weather we have been having but nothing worse. We bought these in England last year for our visit to Iceland and they were also good when we were hiking in Guatemala up in the mountains where the mornings were pretty chilly.
Cabin looks good. Have fun cleaning up winters mess. Those trees will be soooo pretty in a few weeks. Enjoy.
ReplyDeletewe're looking forward to seeing some green leaves and pretty blooms too!
DeleteAlways something to keep you busy, I am sure you will enjoy that new toy.
ReplyDeleteWe will have no proble keeping busy this summer.
DeleteNice tractor. Sure beats the pants off my self propelled lawn mower. No room for bigger toys. :(
ReplyDeleteNow don't be jealous because Kevin has a bigger toy than you!
DeleteOh wow! Boys and their toys... :c)
ReplyDeleteThe only difference between boys and men is the size of their toys! Kevin likes that he gets to use it but doesn't have to pa for it.
DeleteHey Kevin and Ruth enjoy and just so you know Where I live Dawson Creek BC (Mile O City)a place that size in the City would rent for $1800 dollars not Mexican funds and higher plus utilities a month and no toys much higher around a lake bonus you also get paid well done indeed lol
ReplyDeleteOuch! How do people pay for that?
DeleteNice place and I love big boy toys:)
ReplyDeleteYes, too bad about all the white (inside and out!) but the dark green feature wall is nice - goes well with the flooring. That 'mid-century' kitchen furniture is trendy these days.
ReplyDeleteThe white outside is starting to disappear. We look forward to seeing more green. We had a set like this too when I was growing up. I think Kevin and I even had the table for a little while in our first apartment.
DeleteOur house in Terrace, BC was only 625 Sq Ft and we lived in it for 17 years. It had a full basement so we finished that with a large sitting/TV room c/w wood stove, bathroom and bedroom for our son. It was big enough for us and did have other advantages, like costing only about 1/2 what our friends were paying to heat their larger houses.
ReplyDeleteYep, you really don't need a lot more room than that. We can't make use of the "basement crawl space" but we don't need it anyway. We don't really have much "stuff", so it is hard just filling up drawers and cupboards. Much easier to clean too!
DeleteWith that tractor, you are going to have a fun summer.
ReplyDeleteHe is going to start using it today!
DeleteWith that tractor, scoop out the rest of the basement and make a man cave out of it!
ReplyDeleteHe is going to be too busy to make use of a man cave this summer.
DeleteWow, it's about the size of our house. Easy to clean and maintain. Looks pretty nice actually.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear how many sites there are and what all your duties entail. Great pics.
Yep, it is going to be nice and easy to clean.
DeleteKevin will do a post on the campground and our duties another day.
Looks very cozy to me.
ReplyDeleteIt is! ;)
DeleteThe insides look tidy and cosy! Boys and their toys. Hope you enjoy staying in your cabin...house!
ReplyDeleteThank you Paul, I am sure we will.
DeleteNice digs - we had a kitchen table & chairs like that when we went to housekeeping - love the inside of your cabin! Kevin, Barry envies you and your new toy - that's right up his alley!
ReplyDeleteB&C in PA
I hope we haven't made Barry too jealous with Kevin's new little tractor.
DeleteYou guys have all the fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's always our aim, to have fun!
