Are you ever bored?

I think that if you are ever bored then you need to make some serious changes in your life. Not trying to be a preacher or a psychologist, but life is far too short to be spending your time being bored!

I honestly can't remember the last time I was bored. I was probably a child and it was the middle of summer holidays and all of my friends were away. I think it's easier for a child to be bored than an adult. As an adult, you can go out and do something or go somewhere without needing the approval or help of someone else.

There is a difference between being bored and doing something boring. When you're doing something boring, it usually means that it doesn't require a lot of thought to be doing what you're doing. So you can keep your mind active while you're doing what it is that you have to do. But actually being bored means that you're not making proactive decisions about what to do at that particular point in time. Don't you think? Maybe I'm wrong.

I think we were worried about this blog becoming boring during this short period of staying in one place. Strangely, our readership has actually increased and continues to do so on a weekly basis. I'm not sure why that is, maybe it's because we're talking about some different things that are a little more varied than our daily travels.

And having a contest. That's not boring! I think it's kind of exciting. Make sure you enter. You can't win if you don't play the game!

After you enter our contest, you can vote for us in the trip to Namibia contest...

Hey, at least we're keeping you busy and you're not bored!

  1. "If you're bored you're boring" was what I always told my kids growing up. I still say it now and then. Nice, Ruth.

    1. Contessa you don't have to do facebook or twitter to enter. Everyone gets 1 ballot just for entering and if you have enclosed a permanent link in your blog, which we know you have, than you get 5 extra ballots.

  5. You don't need to do tangential things like contests to keep your blog interesring. Your campground and the surrounding area is plenty big enough to write about something new every day for months. Need ideas? Write about the restaurant there---or the story behind all those toilets in the basement!

    1. I know we don't, but it is something fun to do. As for the restaurant, to be honest we haven't eaten there. Once we entered back into Canada we said we weren't eating out because it is too expensive and normally we aren't as happy with a meal as we would be with our own. We might make it over there sometime over the summer, you never know.

    1. We love hearing people say they are never bored. There is always something that can be done even if it is reading a book.

  10. Bored?? Are you kidding?? I am so busy having fun I don't see how I ever had time to work AND raise a family AND have a huge organic garden AND can and freeze and dry it all AND a ton of other things. How did I do it? Love your "terms and conditions"!

Kevin was wondering if he was going to get a comment on the "terms and conditions". Glad you liked them.

    1. Doesn't matter if they aren't exciting days. So long as you are doing something that you enjoy doing and not sitting around twiddling your thumbs saying you have nothing to do and that you are bored!

  13. Nothing like sitting down after a hard week at work and being totally bored at doing nothing....In a way I guess you can't call it boredom if you willingly participate.

  14. Never bored, I may want to do other things, but always find fun in simple stuff. When I go to bed at night, I look forward to morning coffee and reading rv stuff on line. Doesn't take much to light my candle.

  15. Never bored here. When I wake up and come to our "dining" area to have my tea, I look out the window at something new and say to myself, "I love this life!" Life is good...especially after you've almost lost the love of your life.
