We have a winner!

Well that was fun. Our contest to give away a $100 VISA gift card was a resounding success. Or at least we had fun, we hope you did too! We're going to do other giveaways as time goes on, so we're looking forward to the next one!

Now, who won? Well, if you're a female...sorry. And if you're a regular reader...sorry.

It's interesting looking at the statistics from our little contest. There were 2,551 entries put in by a total of around 300 people. Don't forget, some people had up to 21 entries if they took advantage of the options, and many people did just that. And the overwhelming majority of entrants were female. That's what makes it kind of odd that it was won by a male!

We would have loved to give it away to one of our regular readers, but we get a lot of one time visitors who arrive here via search engines. And, our contest was picked up by several sweepstakes websites who advertised it to their members.

We're going to wait until we have some information from the fellow who won before we announce the name though. Should be very soon!

We did shish-kabobs on the grill.

Served on a bed of rice with a salad an a glass of milk. Deeeelicious!

And, as you can see by today's header picture, we took a canoe out the other evening. It was really nice and the lake was calm. These canoes are plastic and they have seats that have a back to them. Really comfortable and easy to paddle.

I like this picture.

Guess who?!

Our beach and swimming area.

Some of the "cabins" on our property.

    1. We wondered about that ourselves but we forced ourselves and just took it easy paddling. It was so calm out there.

  5. AS I was drooling over the pix of kabobs I was wondering if you've tried Quinoa (pronounced KEEN'-oh-AH) the high protein grain from the Andes? I first tasted it in Peru a couple of years ago - and LOVE it. Not sure if it might fit your diet restrictions, Ruth, but it has the highest content of protein of any grain - 17% I believe.

    1. Yes, ! have tried quinoa before, I even have some but I keep forgetting about it. I will have to cook some up, maybe even tonight! And, yes it is great for my gluten free diet.
