Okay, two things to share with you today. First up, the winners from our magazine contest last week!

We are so happy that many of our regular readers were able to win! And you picked some great magazine subscriptions!

Here's the list of winners ...

Susan Tucker picked Wanderlust, a British travel magazine. Great choice Susan. The magazine for people with a passion for travel. (8 issues for $28.78)

Evelyn Breutzmann picked Quilts and More, an American quilting magazine produced by Better Homes and Gardens. We hope you enjoy it Evelyn! (4 issues for $20.98)

Karen Lueck chose ESPN the magazine for her husband Al. Nice of you to look after your guy Karen, we hope he enjoys all the sports news. (26 issues for $14.19)

Connie Camp likes Good Housekeeping and is about to become one of the 25 million women who read this magazine every month! (12 issues for $7.97)

Peter Chao picked Forbes magazine so he can keep on top of all the world's business stories! Great magazine choice Peter! (24 issues for $63.02)

Bill Daley gets a subscription to Consumer Reports so he can make educated choices on anything he wants to purchase. Always logical advice in this non-profit independent magazine. (12 issues for $25.22)

Tom Gaetzi likes to read Mac Life to keep up with the newest and latest in the world of Apple. (12 issues for $10.99)

Wiley Stagg chose National Geographic. There is always something of interest to everybody in this magazine! (12 issues for $24.00)

Lynn McKenzie gets to read Lonely Planet Traveller, something we would have chose ourselves! The refreshingly original travel magazine, taking you to the heart of places to go. (12 issues for $37.31)

Patti Tappel is another quilting fan and likes Quilt Sampler, another quilting magazine by Better Homes and Gardens. (1 issue for $7.35)

So, there you have it. We gave away $239.81 worth of magazines! You're all welcome, but you can also thank Zinio.com for donating the subscriptions!

Okay, second thing. Thanks for all of your feedback regarding the question of advertising here. Looks like the majority of you don't mind a little bit of advertising, however we will continue to be selective. There will NEVER be any "pop up" advertising, or anything video, or any "flash" type of ads. We get that, and we totally agree with you on the annoyance of these types of ads.

The results of our poll? Well considering 478 people have viewed the page, only 149 people answered the poll. I guess that means the rest of you simply don't care enough to take 1 second (literally!) to answer. Anyhow, for those of you who did answer the poll, 87% of you have no problem with us showing a little bit of advertising of some kind.

  2. Hello, I answered 'I don't care' but I agree about the pop-ups. Just and FYI, I just answered your other poll about how often I read your blog and when I hit the back button on the poll site to return here, I got a pop-up! Love the blog and articles, so it doesn't bother me, just wanted to let you know. Keep up the great work!

    1. Glad to hear that Jim and Sandie. No worries anyway because if we do there will only be a couple and maybe the odd post.
