Well that weekend was a bust...

We had been all prepared for a hectic weekend. The registration staff here at the campground had told us "we're all sold out" and "we're totally full".

But once again, it wasn't exactly a hot and sunny middle of July weekend.

Friday night was actually pretty full, but we still had three or four sites open in the main campground as well as quite a bit of room in the overflow area. But Saturday night had lots of vacancy and with an overcast and wet start to Sunday, most people left early. Even though it cleared up a bit in the afternoon, this place was abnormally quiet.

And so our work schedule was abnormally quiet. We don't have a problem with that! It rained much of the morning yesterday, but in the afternoon we spent some time raking part of the lower parking lot that had been covered with water when the lake level was so high a couple of weeks ago. The water level has now gone back down to where it should be. It was a good 18" higher than this two weeks ago!

So with all the rain, we get a lot of mud! In fact, part of the overflow area was so muddy that one big motorhomer decided to leave his rig behind and come and get it when things dry up...he didn't want to get stuck, and there was certainly a risk of that!

There sure was a bright full moon last night!

Another dramatic sky at dusk.

Looking the opposite way. Can you see the full moon?

How about we zoom in on it?

This was actually taken a little later, around 11:30pm. You can almost see Neil Armstrong's footprints! Coincidentally, it was 44 years ago yesterday that Neil Armstrong walked on the moon!

  1. Great moon shot. Unfortunately, I didn't even realize there was a full moon! Don't you just love that "stalker lens?"

    1. Kevin is definitely happy with the zoom on this camera. He really notices a difference with it compared to our little point and shoot camera.

    1. Thanks Sherry. Last week was the quiet before the storm, this week the campground is filling up, mind you we are now into the prime camping season here.

  5. That dramatic dusk picture is just incredible. A quiet week-end once in awhile would be a good thing.

    1. Yes, it is. I think the next 3 weeks will be pretty busy for us here.
