The Top 100 Canadian Travel Blogs

There are literally thousands of travel blogs to be found on the internet. And there are lists of what are considered to be the top 100 travel blogs in the world, but there has never been a list that specifies the top 100 Canadian travel blogs.

Until this morning. And the most exciting part? We're on the list!

Canada's #2 online travel booking site is FlightNetwork.com and they took it upon themselves to come up with a list of the top 100 Canadian travel blogs. Their editor Matt Gibson asked thousands of travel bloggers around the world for their favorite Canadian travel blogs, and somewhere along the line Travel with Kevin and Ruth was nominated.

You can view the list here...

Top 100 Canadian Travel Blogs

From this morning's press release...

On Monday Canadian online travel agency FlightNetwork.com released the Top 100 Canadian Travel Blogs, a list compiled through crowdsourcing on social media sites. The list can be found at FlightNetwork.com.

Bloggers were nominated for inclusion in the list by the travel blogging community. Nominees were contacted via email by FlightNetwork.com and asked to outline the details of their blog.

“There are several reasons why we needed to build this list. First, and most importantly, many Canadians don’t realize how many Canadian travel bloggers are out there, exploring the world, and offering a Canadian perspective on their experiences,” said Matt Gibson, the list’s curator and editor of FlightNetwork.com’s own travel blog Let’s Roll.

Using the list, travellers will be able to access recommended blog posts, link to the blogger’s social media pages and, most importantly, search for blogs that write about their upcoming destination. With a reputation for global backpacking, travel-blogging Canadians appear to have reached every corner of the earth.

“Considering Canada’s relatively small population, Canadians are greatly overrepresented in the travel blogging community. Something about us seems to drive us to explore.” said Gibson, who is also a founding member of the Professional Travel Bloggers Association.

The list is also an opportunity for bloggers to network amongst themselves and others in the travel industry, such as public relations professionals and marketers.

There are some really interesting people writing the blogs included in this list (besides us...lol) so I hope you go check it out and maybe find some other inspirational travel reading from a Canadian perspective.

  2. One of the things that makes your blog so great is that you take the time to make a new post EVERY DAY. Not just here, but on Facebook as well. Regular readers really appreciate not having to read the same post day after day.

    1. Thank you Dugg. It has now just become a habit with the blog. As for Facebook, we try not to put too much up each day or people get tired of seeing all the Facebook posts and just skim over them, like I do sometimes.

  3. That just confirms what we already knew - you've always been part of our top 10, not just top 100.

  8. I didn't even realize there were that many Canadian Travel Blogs. Silly me.
It seems that a lot of them are quite well, young? Ever had a real job? How the heck do you travel at the tender age of 22 unless Mommy and Daddy are forking over the cash? Maybe I'm being too cynical.
I'll just stick to checking in on you guys. You seem more "real world" to me.

    1. You make a very valid point though Bob. At 51 years old, we're at the very high end of the age scale where travel blog writers are concerned. The vast majority are in the 22-35 age group, which is one of the reasons we don't have much of a Twitter following. Older people simply don't "tweet", and much of the younger crowd isn't that interested in following the travels of a couple of over 50 year olds!

  9. Congratulations on being recognized for writing this great blog. I think it's great that you are on there with the young kids. But I too wonder who's funding their travels and will they still be writing in 3-5 years??

    1. Thanks Sherry! As for those younger bloggers, they have many different ways of funding their travels. Some work for cash as they travel around countries, some are going to school abroad and travel on weekends. So many ways, if you go into some of their blogs they often tell you how they came about traveling and even how they saved for it or how they just do it.
