You only live once, right? Or more correctly, you only die once! You actually live every single day. Which is what you're supposed to do anyhow. So we're making the most of it, and when the opportunity arose to plunge off a 200 ft high platform attached to a giant rubber band, we signed up.
This event takes place today at 3:00pm, so be sure to read about our adventure with Great Canadian Bungee tomorrow morning! Should be lots of neat pictures, and maybe we'll try and get a video as well.
Keeping busy enough here in the village of Galetta, Ont. about 45 minutes west of Ottawa. Had a day of rain earlier in the week, so spent a lot of time planning our trip to New York City in early November. Other than that, taking the dogs for walks in the area.
There's an old lead mine in the area. Kingdon Mines operated on a large scale between 1914 and 1931. It is estimated that the mine produced over 60 million pounds of lead. All that's left of the whole operation is the tailings.
The tailings from the old lead mine. Looks like snow on the ground!
Our son Alex, out for a walk with Tia and K.C.
Ruth's sister Lesley, her dog Tia, our son Alex, and Ruth's Dad's dog K.C.
Lots of stuff planned over the next three days! It's supposed to be beautiful weather so we're going to spend a lot of time just wandering downtown Ottawa. But we're also doing some tours, including the Ottawa Haunted Walk Crime and Jail tour. Plus, we're going to see the hilarious Aaron Berg at Yuk Yuks Comedy Club Ottawa Elgin.
Should be a great three days, plus we're staying at the Ottawa Marriott right downtown so we'll be able to park the little blue car and explore downtown as a typical tourist. Really looking forward to showing you Canada's capital!
OK, while I might be able to keep up with you when it comes to titles like, "Dropped my camera today!" and that sort of thing, there will never be a blog entry from me with any kind of title having to do with bungee jumping.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I know it's not a competition, ('cause I'd still be in the dugout and you'd be running the bases) but I just wanted to put that out there.
No worries Bob, you are with the majority of people who are smart enough to not do this! Having said that, thank goodness there are some pretty insane people out there who like to tempt fate and push themselves to do something that is so totally against nature.
DeleteBeen nice knowing youuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteCouldn't you wait till after the Africa trip? I want to read about Africa. HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteNope, the opportunity presented itself so we had to take hold and go with it!
DeleteEeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!
ReplyDeleteYep, that's how it felt standing up there!
DeleteOh my gosh. You couldn't pay me enough money to do that. Hope you both enjoy your adventure.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the next post and you will see for yourself.
DeleteHave fun bungee jumping. Looking forward to seeing the fotos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianna, they are posted in the next blog post.
DeleteHope to hear from you tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou will, no worries!
DeleteI think the above comments say it all! Seriously, I hope you have a BIG THRILL and after it's over, you feel like doing it again. Pictures, we need lots of vicariously living proof!
ReplyDeleteThere is a video and some pictures in today's post.
DeleteWhile I do not fear that the bungee cord may break, I would worry that a blood vessel in my brain would pop.
ReplyDeleteYou see, when I need to pour out a half-empty bottle of ketchup, I would hold it upside down and shake it towards the ground in a jerking motion to get the ketchup to get to the top of the bottle. I envision a bungee cord jumper going through the same shock. :)
I think you described the feeling almost perfectly with this analogy. Mind you there is absolutely no whiplash involved and I think Kevin was the smart one because he choose to go with the body harness so he was never hanging upside down, I on the other hand did hang upside down and definitely felt the blood rushing to the head.
DeleteUm...don't drop your camera!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha!
DeleteOh my. Will have to live vicariously through you on this one, not even on my bucket list! ugh. Just think I would either throw up or poop my pants. either way it would not end good for me at all! LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!!!!!
I thought that's what I might do too!
