Then, we hopped on the subway again.
We got off at 42nd St. Times Square. First place we went though was the main New York Public Library. What a great building! Right beside the library is Bryant Park and they already have their skating rink up and running for the winter.
Right downtown, you can go skating!
The library is on the right, and you can see the Chrysler Building in the distance.
The lobby.
What a great building.
From the library, we decided to take up one of our readers suggestions about visiting Ellen's Stardust Diner where the wait staff are all singers waiting for their big Broadway break. It's a little expensive for the food, but it is really good entertainment and so we taped a couple of short moments to share with you....Turn up your volume!
So that was fun and we enjoyed the lunchtime entertainment. As I said, the food and drinks are expensive, but of course you're paying for the show as well. Still, a worthwhile stop for something different in New York City.
From there, we wandered through Times Square on our way to the David Letterman Show...
Times Square is a bit of a circus.
Is it still Halloween?
They're also in the middle of a big construction project at Times Square so between the tourists and the barricades it was a bit crowded. It's probably like that all the time! Anyhow, we had to go pick up our David Letterman tickets.
Waiting in line for tickets. Things moved along pretty quick though.
Got the tickets!
Long story short, we enjoyed the show. The guests were Kathy Griffin (actress and comedienne) Bruce McCall (Illustrator) and J. Cole (Hip Hop Artist).
Kathy Griffin was funny, Bruce McCall and David Letterman did a piece about a book they collaborated on, and we confirmed once again that we are not fans of Hip Hop music!
Plus, we each got a copy of the book!
Then, we were meeting readers Kevin and Heidi who invited us out to dinner. We have a lot in common, and it turns out they were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. (Our 30th is next May!) They brought us to a Japanese restaurant, and the food was different an interesting!
Appetizers!
Kevin, Heidi, Ruth, Kevin
Thanks for dinner! Hope to see you again in March!
