To our facebook fans for getting us to Namibia in the first place.
And to the Namibia Tourism Board for sending us to visit your amazing, diverse country. And for being so flexible with the arrangements. We had a GREAT three and a half week camping trip and we learned so much about your corner of Africa.
And to ATI Holidays, the tour operator who put together our trip. Christine was so patient with us and all of the changes we made. Thanks for being so organized and presenting such a well laid out package.
We thought we'd put together some pics of the highlights of our time so far. Some of these you've already seen, either on facebook or in previous blog posts, but some are new. (Don't forget to click on the pictures to make them full screen!)
Our very first night camping in Namibia. Who would've thought??
Momma and baby baboons having a drink. We enjoyed watching their antics, even though some times they are pests.
We learned that everybody thinks dik-diks are too cute!
Amazed at the number of birds we spotted. I've never been a "bird person", but I think I'm starting to be more interested!
I think the oryx is jealous of the fancy horns!
I like the giraffes the best. They are such strange creatures!
Sometimes the zebras and the elephants don't get along!
Everybody goes to Etosha National Park hoping to see a cheetah. We saw four of them!!
We enjoyed meeting some of the Namibian people.
Zebras have big teeth!
And wildebeest are funny lookin'!
King of the beasts!
We enjoyed the spectacular scenery of Damaraland.
And the beaches of Swakopmund.
And the amazing dunes of Sossusvlei.
And hiking the desolate mountains near Aus.
And the views at Fish River Canyon.
And what was the most amazing??
In pretty much all of these middle of nowhere places, we could get on the internet to tell you all about it!
Thank you Namibia! But we're not done with you yet!
Oh, Kevin, this synopsis is fantastic. I was so excited during the process of getting you there and you've certainly made your followers' virtual adventure a special thing. Thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteNo you haven't missed a post on the camper truck. We have mentioned it a few times and showed pictures but we haven't done a report on it yet. That should be on the agenda soon. We will have a good post detailing everything about our experience with it, including photos.

DeleteHowdy R&K,
ReplyDeleteThank you, for the summary... It brings that part to a close... Let's go on the 'fancy' part and see how the 'other-half' lives, although we love the out-doors part !!
The sunset was a 'beaut' !!! The animals looked SOOO THIN, tho !!! Even the ephalants !!!
There will always be the outdoors part, Butterbean! The animals actually look to be doing pretty good considering how dry things have been.
DeleteIt's been great fun following your trip, and delighted to read you had such a fantastic time in our beautiful country! Hope to see you back before too long, and maybe one or two of your readers as well! Travel safely, Christine and the ATI Holidays team!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine and the rest of the ATI team. We are having an amazing time in your beautifully diverse country and we hope that we have inspired some of our readers to come for a visit as well.
DeleteA trip of a life time, I know I've said it before but worth saying again. I love the pics of Damaraland.
ReplyDeleteI agree Chris, this certainly is a trip of a lifetime. We will be going back to the Damaraland area in a week or so. Hoping to get in a hike or two while we are there.
DeleteLove that final shot.
ReplyDeletePriceless, isn't it?
DeleteWhat a great summary! Fantastic trip! You two are amazing! And so is Namibia. I'd never even heard of it and you've sure put it on my map. And with internet all over the place, who would even have guessed. Great closing shot!! That's a framer!!
