A good first day drive

But it didn't start off perfectly. I was driving Lindsey and the kids to the airport. We left at about 7:30am and her flight was at 9:45am. It takes about an hour to get to the airport, but after 10 minutes, Lindsey says "I forgot my phone!".

So, we turned around and went back to get it.

Then, we had to go through some traffic on the outskirts of Ottawa and we arrived at the airport at 9:05am. And I couldn't just drop her off. With two little kids, she had two car seats and her big suitcase. So I parked and helped her get all the gear to the check in counter. Everything went smoothly though, and she made the flight!

Went back to Ruth's dad's house and Ruth had everything ready to pack into the car. We knew we only had a 305 km (189 mile) drive, so we weren't in a big rush.

Yesterday's drive, 305 kms (189 miles) from Galetta to North Bay.

Still quite a bit of ice on the lakes along the way.

Not too busy on the highway.

It was a nice, uneventful drive. Clear blue sky most of the way. We arrived at our friends Dianne and John at around 4:00pm.

We had met Dianne and John last October when we were driving this route in reverse. They have a house in Elliott Lake, Ontario and had invited us to stay. This time, they're house sitting in North Bay, and once again invited us for a visit.

A glass of wine by the still frozen lake!

It was still a bit of a chilly day, but the sun was shining and we sat outside and had a glass of wine and got caught up on things. They made a delicious roast lamb supper, and there was no shortage of good conversation!

Today, we're off to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Back in the good old U.S. of A. for some cheap gas and cheap wine!

There were a few other pics on the camera from the other day when Ruth's dad took the crew up to the maple sugar bush for lunch...

Yummy. We LOVE maple syrup!

Cameron and Sadie.

Cameron, going down the slide. Looks like a bumpy ride!

Sadie loves the swing!

Four generations.

  2. Great pictures of the family! I like North Bay -- but I get the shivers looking at the melting ice/snow on the lake....

    1. We agree, they sure are cuties! It is so nice to be able to get a 4 generation shot both with my Dad and with Kevin's Mom (in a previous post).

  4. So the dog seems to have a particular "picture pose"? Too funny.
