Today's the day!

We're really excited to be arriving today at Cabri Regional Park where we're going to be spending the next five months.

We arrive in the town of Cabri at noon today where we'll be welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of the park and he's taking us out for lunch before we go to the park. The park itself is located about 20 kms (12 miles) from the town.

Yesterday, we went in to Moose Jaw and Ruth bought some work clothes at the Salvation Army thrift store. Two tops, and two pairs of pants, for a grand total of $14.25, no tax. Nice.

Then we drove north of town to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. We needed to get some fresh air and go for a walk after all those days of driving.

Just outside the park, we saw four deer.

The little blue car, overlooking the frozen Buffalo Pound Lake.

Yes, there are buffalo at this park. We got as far as a dirt road that leads to the buffalo pen, but it was closed and that's where we got out to go for a walk. We probably walked a km or so and then there was a warning fence across the road...

Warning fence across the road.

Yep, this is why the road is closed!

Hmm. They need some minor repairs here!

There was no easy way across the water, so we simply turned around and went back. So we didn't see any buffalo.

Not a long drive today, only about 240 kms (150 miles) to Cabri. We have to go through the small city of Swift Current, and that's the place where we'll go for groceries and anything major. Apparently it's about 45 minutes from the campground.

Today's drive will be 240 kms (150 miles).

Tune in tomorrow at this time and we'll be showing you pictures of the campground and our new home for the next five months!

  4. Did I miss why you are here rather than returning to the place of last summer? Sounds like this will be very nice. Hope you don't have to fix that road. LOL

    1. I guess you much have missed it, I think that it was somewhere back in January or early February. We are located further south in Saskatchewan this summer but the park in the post above is not the one we are working at, it was one we were just visiting so luckily we do not have to fix this road.

    1. No, we didn't hear about that but we aren't surprised as there are quite a few deer in that area.
