But even with the inclement weather, there's still lots going on here at the park!
The big project yesterday (during the rain!) was the removal of our old playground structure. It no longer met government standards and so we're having a new one installed in early July. That is also going to be a big project, but first we had to get rid of the old one. They found a local Hutterite colony that was willing to dismantle it and take it away provided that we donated it to them. Win-win for everybody.

The spot looks a little bare now!
So we will now go three weeks without a playground. The new one is booked to be installed July 4th to the 6th. The installer wants 10 to 15 volunteers to help for three days! It's quite the structure, I've seen pictures of it. The kids are going to love it.
While this was going on, our hired help (his name is also Kevin) was renovating a trail that leads from one of the camping sections down to the concession. Now it will be easier and nicer for those campers to go for an ice cream! He did a great job trimming the bushes and putting wood chips down on the path.
Nice new trail leading to the concession and office area.
Speaking of ice cream, Ruth found a great recipe to make your own creamsicle popsicles. She wanted to share it with you, so here it is...
Ingredients
1 cup orange juice
1 cup full fat coconut milk (you could also substitute melted/very soft vanilla ice cream)
2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Yummy!

Keeping Cameron busy indoors during the rain is going to be a chore. He's pretty good at keeping himself occupied though. He took a bunch of cushions and made himself a little playground.
He jumps off the chair and lands on the cushions.
Too funny. When nap time comes, he's done!
And I've been working on our park website. The person who made it last year just took a template and copied it. It was not very good and I spent some time changing pictures and making it a little more attractive and useful. It's not finished yet, but you can have a look here if you like... www.cabripark.ca
Our photo of the month of August 2008 comes from our trip back to Ottawa from Nova Scotia, we took a side trip through the Gaspésie area where Perce Rock is a landmark along the way, and it's really something to see.

Great header photo! I heard Ruth talking about the cream pop recipe and it sounded good. Now we need to try it!
ReplyDeleteYep, it is pretty good and very healthy.
DeleteYour hired help really does a good job. That path looks great. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time with your grandbabes and they with you.
ReplyDeleteHe did a great job and he is a good worker, we are glad to have him helping us.
DeleteWe are having a fun time with Lindsey and the grandchildren, it's hard to believe that the two weeks is almost up.
Tks for the creamsicle recipe - will try it next week when our daughter and 3 year old granddaughter come to the shore for a visit - sounds yummy!

I am sure that they will love the popsicles, plus the fact the popsicles are healthy!
