Some assembly required...

Great day yesterday. It's funny how quickly the weather changes though. Yesterday morning was totally beautiful, and then a cold front passed through and the temperature dropped like a rock and it got windy and rainy. That lasted for two hours or so and then the sun came out and it was beautiful blue sky and sunshine again!

Ruth and I had a little campground work to do, and everyone else kept busy too...

They had dropped off a new BBQ for us to use here at the park. Of course everyone knows that new BBQ's need to be put together. "Some assembly required!". It had sat in it's box on our porch for the past week and I simply hadn't got around to it. So while we were busy doing some campground work, we put Chris and Juan to work as well...

Starting to look like a BBQ.

Hmm. What's next...? When in doubt, read the instructions.

The finished product!

At one point in the day, Ruth and Lindsey took the kids for a walk around the park...

Heading up hill.

Lindsey and Sadie.

One thing we haven't worried about is our front porch. It's been a kind of a mess with a couple of old couches and pillows that they were going to take to the dump at some point. We came back to a surprise when we found that Chris and Juan had rearranged everything and it turned out that these old couches were actually pretty comfy. And our porch looks pretty good this way! They've got a couple of cigarette burns in them and they're a little worn...but they're fine for out here...

I think we'll leave these old couches right here!

Next time I'm in town, I'll buy a couple of pieces of clear plastic to keep the rain off of them when they're not in use.

After dinner, we made a campfire and sat around outside. Hardly any mosquitoes. Last year at this time when we were up north we were being eaten alive. Much, much better here.

Enjoying an evening campfire.

Looking back to March of 2008, we had driven our motorhome Sherman across Mexico, into the United States, and across to Florida to meet our daughter Lindsey and her husband Justin. They spent a week with us traveling Florida in the motorhome. Great time we had, and we love how this picture depicts that as our favorite header photo from March of 2008...

  1. Hey, those two Mexican travellers sure come in handy. I'll have to start a "honey do" list for them. :-)
Whiskey is looking so hopeful in your header picture....just a little crumb of something, please?
    Enjoy your last day together!

    1. They sure do and they cook up a mean Mexican meal! It was so nice to have them help us out like that.

I think she probably got that little crumb of something too!

  7. Envying you your no bugs. They are all in Michigan with us. Guess we'd better move further north. Wonderful picture of Lindsey and Sadie. Always good to have handy visitors. Of course you know they now want you to do some cooking on that great looking BBQ. Love your closing picture. Where is it that you were dry camping with Sherman near Jacksonville? With our new solar set up we want to try some of your places in Florida this winter.

    1. Well, I wouldn't say that we have no bugs, but compared to last year that is how it feels. I think it is partly because it is a little cooler at the moment and we do get quite a breeze so that helps to keep them away. If we go walking through the bush then we definitely know they are there. We will see how they are as the summer progresses.

We were dry camping at Huguenot Park just outside of Jacksonville. It is an actual park but there is no water/electricity or sewer at the sites. We really liked it there but definitely noticed the sand fleas.
