Two more days of peace and quiet

And then the fun begins.

It's going to be very busy here between June 27th and August 4th. Actually, we're sort of looking forward to it. The campground is pretty much ready for the hoards of people, and the water level has risen to the point where the boaters will be able to use  the lake.

The water has been rising steadily, but it's not expected to peak until July 3rd.

Some of the docks are floating now, but it's still got another couple of feet to go.

I played Coca-Cola machine repairman yesterday. Some of the columns were jamming. Our coke machine is about 8 years old, but they won't give us a new one because we don't use enough volume. The machine is owned and serviced by Coke, but they have to drive 200 kms (160 miles) to get here. So I educated myself on how it works and fixed it myself. Some of the tubes were a little bent. Drinks are $1.00 each, so I fixed it so that it will only accept loonies (Canadian $1 coins) so that we don't need to worry about stocking it with change.

We haven't really had summer yet. Temperatures have been reasonable with highs around 22C (72F) but it's almost always clouds and it rains almost every day.

It was sunny at the time, but we sure did get dumped on a few minutes later!

Ruth came across a snake yesterday. He was about four and a half feet long, but not very thick. We have quite a few bull snakes in the park, but you really don't see them very often. They're not poisonous, but can inflict a painful bite.

4 1/2 foot bull snake.

Hiding in the brush.

Found a better flight search engine. This is the best one I've come across. Play with it yourself and see...

And, we've got more visitors coming today! Doug and Nancy are heading west on the final leg of their six month journey around the U.S. and Canada living out of their VW van, and they're about ready to get home! looking forward to seeing them this afternoon!

Today's header picture is our favorite pic from November of 2009. Ruth did a couple of months working part time as a bus tour guide and this is a great pic she took from a trip she did to Atlantic City...

  1. Looks like you guys are having the same weather we're having. Sunny during the morning and then dark clouds and rain every afternoon. In the 70's. But should warm up for the 4th of July here. They may not be venomous but I still don't want to see one.

    1. The rain here can be anytime during the day, not just in the afternoon. sure hoping it will dry up for the long weekend.

I don't mind seeing the snakes, as long as I see them first!

  2. Pretty decent weather here most of the time so far.
Starting this weekend will begin the summer influx for us too, with happy campers, children and pets at most places we are at for the next two months.

    1. The weather was nice here in May but June has been pretty wet, hopefully July and August will be beautiful and sunny for all the campers.

  3. Same weather in San Miguel de Allende. It is rainy season. It rains nearly daily. But when the sun comes out the thermometer climbs to 28 degrees Celsius. Otherwise around 20. Have fun with Doug and Nancy.

    1. That's the nice thing about the rainy season in Mexico, it only lasts for a short time each day and then it is beautiful and sunny again.

We will have a great time with Doug and Nancy, it is so nice to see them again!

  4. Pretty strange weather we are all having. About those loonies, apparently with the vending machines here in our park, there is a problem using the old or new loonies. Some machines are fine with both, others only accept the old loonies.

    1. Hopefully the summertime weather will start now!

I guess we will see what happens with the loonies soon enough.

  5. The rain has followed us now for two weeks. Not a problem though, enough breaks to get out and do stuff. Get ready for the crowds!

    1. We are looking forward to having some sunshine, we haven't seen a whole lot of it this June but really don't want to see the temperatures to high with the humidity. It will make working a little more difficult.

  7. Briefly checked out that site. Works well. I didn't realise Porter, who fly out of Toronto Island, go to Halifax. So I learned something.
We've sure had a mixed bag of weather.

    1. So far Kevin loves this new site and what it can do. Love that Porter flies to Halifax and they almost always have sales on. Don't ever pay full price with Porter.

  8. Hope you have a better July and August. A wet, cool summer is a bummer. Looking forward to checking out the flight app.
