More than half way through

I meant to mention it last week, but we are now more than half way through our time here at the park. And, more than half way through busy season. The time has gone quickly!

As we get into the second half of our time here, we find ourselves doing more planning for the coming off season.

I was doing more research into South Korea and found out a couple of interesting things that I wasn't aware of.

The first thing is that Korea's favorite sport is baseball! One of the things we've been missing in our life of travel (and no television) is baseball. At the beginning, our son was playing college baseball in the U.S., so we still got a baseball fix through that. But now, we are missing baseball. Other than keeping up with the MLB scores and standings, we haven't seen any baseball since last October's World Series.

Anyhow, it turns out that Korea has eight professional baseball teams, and the season timing is similar to that of MLB. And of course we're going to be in Korea in October, and everyone knows that October is baseball playoff month, don't they?! Well, it's baseball playoff month in Korea as well! So with that in mind, we plan on attending a game or two while there. That should be a fun experience!

The other thing I didn't realize is how many American military troops are still stationed in South Korea. Of course everyone knows about the American (and Canadian) involvement in the Korean War (1950-1953). There are currently just under 30,000 U.S. troops in South Korea. Just thought that was interesting.

Our Amazon deal of the day?

The mattress in our motorhome is the original factory one, which was junk to begin with. Now almost 20 years old, we found that a memory foam topper was the best option and we now enjoy a very comfortable sleep. Wouldn't hesitate to suggest that if you're not happy with your RV mattress, this is the way to go and for this price you can't go wrong! (This is one of the "lightning deals" so the really cheap price won't last much past the morning. Still a great deal, even at the normal sale price!)

Sleep Joy 3" Memory Foam Mattress Topper

This memory foam mattress topper appears to be the correct size for most RV beds. But check the measurements first to be sure.

  1. That's a good price on the memory foam. When we had our RV, I simply tossed out the factory mattress and picked up a nice one from Royal Mattress, who have a factory right here in Burlington. It was one of their "showroom" models, so it was less than 300 bucks. What a difference.

    1. Yeah, those factory mattress that come with the motorhome are total garbage. At least they were when our motorhome was made, I guess maybe some of the expensive new units have better mattresses. Sounds like you got a deal on yours!

  2. Nice that you are now passed the half way mark,
AND can get in a baseball game or two this fall.
We replaced our original mattress with a pillow top/memory foam one 4 years ago, four hundred dollars but was work every penny to us. Help us use up a four thousand dollar credit at the dealers.

    1. We can't believe how fast the time has gone by, and we have been enjoying ourselves here, half the time we don't even feel like it is work.

Definitely looking forward to catching a baseball game there, it should be lots of fun.

    1. oppps. I had tried to put a comment on your Spain post with my phone and it wouldn't go. So I came back to stick it in from my laptop and ended up on the wrong post. SIGH...... I'm surprised I knew something you guys didn't, that in Japan and Korea baseball is a huge sport.

    2. No problem Sherry, the comment on Spain actually did go on to the Spain post as well.

We knew that baseball was popular in Japan we just didn't realize that it was so popular in South Korea as well.
