One last hurrah!

Labour Day Weekend. The weekend that typically signals the end of summer here in Canada. So for any people who like to go camping, this is the last opportunity. Many people have children who go back to school on Tuesday, and then they'll get back into their regular schedules and the RV will be put away for the season.

So, our park is pretty busy with end of season campers!

We didn't actually expect to be this busy. A lot of our clientele are farmers, and harvest usually begins around the third week of August. The regulars here had told us that Labour Day weekend is usually a pretty quiet affair.

But we've had a lot of rain the last week or so and that has made many fields too wet to use the combine on. So some of the locals are taking the opportunity to go camping one last time. So far, the weather is definitely feeling more like September. Highs of only around 20C (68F) and fairly windy at times. But at least it's not raining.

Spotted this pretty butterfly yesterday.

Our summer student helpers have gone back to school though, so it's just Ruth and I to run the park. No problems, we've got a pretty good system in place so we can get everything done. I can probably even plan a nap in there sometime this afternoon because I was up until about 1:00am last night making sure that everyone was behaving themselves.

Monday, most RV's will  be heading home. The park is open for campers until the night of the 14th, but we have absolutely zero reservations for between Monday and then. The seasonal campers have until September 15th to remove their trailers and any of their belongings from the park.

So September will be a nice quiet month for us. We should actually be able to make time to do some hiking in the area. Otherwise, it will be just puttering around here getting the park ready to be closed up for the winter. Even though we're totally excited about our fall travels, we're not feeling as anxious to hit the road as we were at this time last year.

Our Amazon deal of the day is a neat product. Especially for RV'ers who usually have a lack of storage space. I didn't even know about these, but Ruth says their on her list of things to buy for the motorhome. Collapsible silicon mixing bowls and measuring cups.

And, some of them are on sale just now. In fact, the Squish Collapsible Measuring Cups are only $10.

  3. A quiet month sounds good to me. Especially after the summer you've put in. It would be those midnight and 1:00 a.m. walks that would do me in.
