So, it was off to the Salvation Army Thrift Store!
All I bought was a pair of dress shoes. We're waiting for a big package of clothing from Tilley Endurables and some of the items for me will hopefully be versatile enough to wear to a wedding.
Spiffy shoes. Not bad, for $5.00...and no tax!
Ruth's footwear were only $3.00!
Yes, I do have a full pic of Ruth wearing her dressy clothes. She had also bought a dress ($10.00) and a sweater/shawl type of top ($4.00) but she won't let me show you today. So you'll have to wait a couple of weeks for the full view!
So, her entire outfit with the dress, shawl, and shoes cost all of $17. Good deal. We like to travel light, so at that price we don't mind simply leaving everything behind the day after the wedding.
We're reading that South Korea is a very technologically advanced country. In fact, we'll be able to easily continue with our regular daily blog postings from that country, as well as "on the fly" updates to our facebook page at www.facebook.com/TravelwithKevinAndRuth. If you "like" our page you'll get instant photos of where we are and what we're doing!
That's because we're going to have a wi-fi Everywhere Speed Pack from WiFi-Korea! This tiny hotspot router works anywhere in Korea. Even on the top of a mountain or in the demilitarized zone at the border of North Korea. And, all over the island of Jeju. And, it even works on the 180 mph high speed KTX train. So, you'll be kept right up to date on our activities!
Love the concept of leaving unwanted clothing behind. Travellers donations benefit everyone economically and environmentally. Can't wait to see Ruth's outfit!
ReplyDeleteWe have done this a number of times. Because we travel so light we can't always bring what we want with us because of the weight. We have done this with a small day backpack in Europe. The discount airline that we used only let us have ONE piece of carry one luggage and charge for checked luggage, so our main suitcase/backpack was our carry one. Once we arrived in Europe we went to a store and bought a cheap small backpack that we would leave behind when we left. It worked out cheaper that way.
DeleteNow how in the heck did you get invited to a wedding in South Korea?
ReplyDeleteI really like Ruth's shoes...yours too, Kevin.
You must have missed that post...

Me too....how did you get invited to a wedding and get the wifi speed pack? It really is infuriating that everywhere else in the world seems to have these inexpensive portable wifi options but not the US. Corporate America sure has us all on a string. I'm a veteran good will and salvation army shopper. Pretty much everything I wear came from there. Not usually shoes though although for this one time wearing, it's a great idea.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I guess you forgot about the post where we mentioned about being invited to the wedding as you did post a comment to it but it was earlier in the summer. You can read about it again in the link that Kevin included in the reply to Paul and Marsha above.
DeleteAs for the WiFi speed pack, Kevin included a link to it in the blog post above. It is a rental unit that Kevin found through a search online. We agree they are way ahead of us in keeping connected but part of that may be that South Korea is a small country with a large population compared the size of either Canada or the United States.
We love secondhand shopping!
Nice looking shoes! And what a bargain.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray and Cindy!
DeleteAlways good deals at the thrift store, we have done the same thing.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you have time to look in these stores, then you can usually find a good bargain.
DeleteI love travelling to countries that have good technology although some that don't are pretty cool to travel to as well. 99% of my wardrobe is from Thrift stores and I am pretty well dressed. Great finds you two!
ReplyDeleteWe love it when internet access is great while we are travelling but we almost always find a way to get on the internet even if it isn't always accessible.
DeleteYep, they are lots of good deals to be found in the thrift shops if you have time to look.
I had to play Mr. Dress Up to sing at a Messiah concert last year, so I too spent $20 at the local thrift shop.
ReplyDeleteThat's the way to do it, if you only need it for a one time gig!
DeleteYou sure know how to stretch a buck (or a Loonie)! :c)
ReplyDeleteYep, we pride ourselves on that! :-)
DeleteGreat bargains. Maybe you could find work as personal shopper for people.
ReplyDeleteNeither one of us has much fashion sense to do something like that, and we don't like shopping enough either!
