Nice day to get stuff done

And it looks like the next few days are going to be nice. Great change from the blast of cold air we had last week!

I've got a bunch of logs that have been stored beside the woodshed and if I can get them cut and split and put into the woodshed, they'll be dry enough to burn next year. One of the people here lent us a little wood splitter.

Here's the pile that I want to get cleaned up...

Oh, and this pile that needs to be split too...

So when I saw the little electric woodsplitter, I wasn't sure that it would be up to the job! It looked kinda "Mickey Mouse", if you know what I mean...

I was used to using a big gas powered one that Ruth's dad has.

But this one actually worked pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised!

Meanwhile, Ruth was tidying up some of the bushes...

Before

After. Pics don't do it justice. It really does look much better!

  2. You two are soooo busy! Those are huge bushes Ruth.
We are also cutting up wood-for winter as we don't have central heating in our little cottage. Just one storage heater in our kitchen. Fortunately Mr Sft gets free pallettes from the printing company he works for so we have a constant supply. We bought £100 worth of coal and that with the wood will hopefully last us 3 years like the last bunker full.

    Like the head lamp.

    2. Sounds like you will be toasty warm for very little money if this will supply you for 3 winters. That is the nice thing about having a small house, it doesn't require much to keep it warm.

You definitely need to go to Mexico, it is one of our most favourite destinations. There is so much diversity there in ecosystems, in culture and in it's people who we find to be some of the most friendliest people we have met throughout all of our travels.

  3. The little splitter that could. Nice pile of firewood for next summer. I hope people appreciate all the extra work you both have put in. :c)

    1. That little pile will have nothing on the pile that will get delivered next spring, that whole building will be full to overflowing.

Yep, the board members are very appreciative!
