What's the plan...?

We fly to Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday where we'll be reunited with our motorhome Sherman. He's been waiting there for us since April! Poor guy.

I know he's been missing us, and we've been missing him!

So we're looking forward to at least four months of motorhome travel. The only question is, where are we going to explore?

We'll probably hang out at Altarose Rancho RV Park for a week or so and just get Sherman cleaned up and ready to go. Then, we want to stop in at Sayulita just north of Puerto Vallarta and visit some friends for a day or two before making our way slowly north. We're thinking of being in Mazatlan area for Christmas, but that's not written in stone yet.

After that? We're headed for the Copper Canyon! Not sure how we're going to get there yet, but we could take the new toll highway that goes up to Durango. And go around the back way to Creel. The other option is Los Mochis to El Fuerte and take the train ride. Either way, I think the train ride is on the agenda. Haven't checked the pricing yet, so that might scare us away. We'll see.

After that, we plan to make our way to Arizona and explore there for a month or two. We've never properly done that area in the motorhome.

Pretty relaxing day here yesterday! Did some laundry, wandered around the property. Watched them get set up for a wedding.

Looking back at the marina.

All set up for a wedding.

Happy hour! Why are we sitting so far apart? The middle seat is broken!

Our happy hour view.

Sunset a little later.

Once again, if you're doing any shopping on Amazon.com, we appreciate you visiting the following link first....

You pay the same price you would anyhow, plus we make a small commission. Thanks for helping!

  1. At Copper Canyon do what Tioga George did---take the much cheaper Chicken Train! And in the Yuma/Quartzsite area you and Sherman can stay up to two weeks in the LTVAs for $40.

    1. Thanks Dugg, that is probably what we will do. I remember George doing that trip.

  2. I took the trail from Creel a few years back and the price was real cheap and if you want to go for dirt cheap they use to have a fare for standing... there is a history of holdups on the train so expect to see some federales. At Copper Canyon there will be some vendors making street tacos on some steel drums that make a pretty tasty lunch. A real interesting drive is down to the bottom of Copper Canyon yo Batopilas... lots of native Indians down there...

    2. Thanks heyduke50, we will definitely keep that in mind. We have no problems seeing Federales around, we are used to seeing them. We are hoping that we will be able to do some hiking at the canyon and down into it, so I am sure that we will see the native Indians down there.

  6. Not sure I'd be leaving Mexico given the cold in the US and it isn't even winter yet.

  7. We were in the Indio/Palm Desert/Palm Springs CA area this past week and temps reached high 70's/low 80's part of the days. The mornnings, overnight, and evenings cooled down pretty good but it sure was better than the snowy days they had back home in PA. We are now in the Newport Beach area and it's rainy and cool. Can't wait to see you reunite with Sherman!!!
