Got up fairly early, around 6:30am and Ruth started by baking some chocolate chip cookies while I was writing the blog post. Nothing like the smell of fresh baked goodies first thing in the morning!
Then, she made pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast. Chris stopped by to say hello while he was out for a morning walk, and of course took advantage of a coffee and some cookies while he was here. Can't blame him for that!
I did some hand laundry while Ruth was having some laptop time. Sure is frustrating only having one laptop! Only a few more weeks though until we're up in Arizona. Boy, we've got a list of things that we need to buy.
The other day, we went over to look at Chris and Juan's propane heater. The built in heaters in most RVs are junk. They're noisy, and they use a lot of propane and battery power. Here's the one that Chris uses...
Mr. Heater Indoor-Safe Portable Radiant Heater
Looks like it's got pretty good reviews, and Chris is certainly happy with theirs.
Went for a walk down to pick up a six pack of beer. Met Chris and Juan along the way and went back to their trailer to use their laptop and internet to skype with our daughter Lindsey and the grandkids. Our son is there visiting right now too.
Doing some research into the next leg of our trip, which will hopefully be tomorrow. There's a nature reserve we'd like to stop at for a night or two, an we know that RVers have stayed there before. But I'm reading online that it's only open Thursday through Sunday. We could put off our departure here until Thursday, but by then we'd be a week behind our original schedule. Not that we really have a schedule to keep, but we were planning on being in Quartzsite AZ around January 25th. No big deal if we're not, I suppose.
Up in time for the sunrise this morning!
We gave that same Mr. Heater and been using it since 2007 works wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe will be in Quartzsite for a few weeks, Jan 25th is the last day of the RV show, so vendors and crowds will be moving out, still busy and lotsa cool things to see and do.
We know that you have been using a Mr. Heater and are very happy with it along with many other RVer's. We sorta chose the end of the show just for that purpose. We figure there will still be lots for us to see. Hope we are able to meet up before you head out.
DeleteI hope you get along well, Ruth, and without too much discomfort.
ReplyDeleteThank you Paula and Jerry, it went very well and didn't hurt a bit. My mouth is feeling great today.
DeleteLooks like we are one year too early--we would have loved to connect with you two while at Quartzsite last year. Any plans to be in Virginia Beach the next few months?
ReplyDeleteWell that is a shame and no we have no plans on being in the Virginal Beach area over the next few months. I am sure that some day down the road we will cross paths. Enjoy your time in Virginia Beach.
DeleteThe drawback with the Mr. Heater, of course, is that it is not catalytic---so it will poison you with carbon monoxide while you sleep. Other than that minor detail, it is awesome ;)
ReplyDeleteNo worries there Dugg, we have no plans of running it while we are sleeping! And, when we do run it there will always be a window or vent open.
DeleteI love my Mr. Heater so much that I have TWO ! The smaller one and the one with two burners. I've had them since my first year on the road.
ReplyDeleteThey have a low-oxygen shut-off but I also never run them overnight and always have a vent slightly open.
I also re-fill those little canisters making it very inexpensive to run IE. .56 cents a canisters at today's propane prices.
We love ours too, so much better than our onboard furnace and much quieter.
DeleteWe never run ours at night either, even though they are said to be safe, we would rather not take the chance.
