There's a scorpion in the motorhome!

So I had just gone to bed last night, and Ruth was on the computer. I heard a bit of a shriek and Ruth saying "Kevin, there's a scorpion on the floor!".

Sure enough, there was a scorpion.

How does a scorpion find it's way into the motorhome?? Can't quite figure that out!

No, there was no time to get a photograph! This little guy had to be destroyed before he could crawl off into some safe little hiding spot. I grabbed the nearest heavy article...one of my hiking boots! And I crashed it down on him hard. But he was on the carpet and so that absorbed much of the blow. He was still moving, and quite quickly. But we got him, just before he reached the edge of the couch. And no, the remains were not worth getting a photo of either!

Man, they are nasty looking little creatures. This one was about two inches long.

We've seen scorpions in Mexico before. They typically hide under rocks and clumps of leaves. How one gets into the motorhome, we're not sure! Ruth had done laundry yesterday and the material of our folding laundry hamper had been sitting on the ground, so maybe it came in with that? Who knows?

Well, at least we got him before he got one of us.

We're hitting the road this morning! Totally enjoyed our visit here at Rancho Altarose RV Park, but it's time to move on. We expect to be on the road every couple of days until we get up to Creel in the Copper Canyon. As most of our regular readers know, we like to move slowly and we're not fans of long driving days. So we plan days where we can arrive at our destination by noon or so after spending no more than a couple of hours on the road.

And some drives will be much shorter than that!

In fact today, we're only planning on getting to La Cruz, a little community on the north shore of Bahia de Banderas. Our new friends from Louisiana, Pat and Geraldine are having a leak problem with the roof of their little Toyota motorhome so we said we would stop by and see if we can help. If the owner there will let us dry camp for 100 pesos ($8.20) or less, then we'll spend the night. If not, we'll carry on up to Sayulita.

So...we're excited to be on the road once again!
