We have puppies!

They were born last night...or maybe even this morning. And where were they born?

Underneath our motorhome!

Good thing we're not in a rush to go anywhere...

So far, we can only see two of them. Hopefully that's it, because this is Missy's first (and hopefully only) litter. And she's nine years old, so she doesn't really need the headache of raising a whole bunch of little ones. Twins would be just fine. I guess we'll see as the day goes on.

Missy and her pups under our motorhome.

And by the way, "we" do not have puppies. And we won't be taking any with us! We are still quite happy enjoying other people's pets.

So, that's some excitement for this morning. (Edit at 11:00am...there are now five puppies!)

Yesterday, the mechanic was supposed to show up at 9:00am to have a look at our brake line. But, this is Mexico and so I wasn't surprised when he didn't show. 10:00am came and went, so Garry gave him a call and he said he would be here in 15 minutes.

Okay.

And about 15 minutes later a guy rode in on a motorcycle. No tools or anything, he just wanted to see what he was getting in to. He had a look at it, we discussed things, and he went to work. We supplied him with some tools from the guy next door and he removed the bad section of brake line. I gave him 100 pesos ($8.50) so that he could go buy the line and the compression fitting and some brake fluid.

He took off on his motorcycle and returned about 20 minutes later.

He went to work again. I watched him, and he did the job exactly the way I would have done it. So I'm confident it's going to be okay.

I asked him how much. He said 100 pesos. I gave him 200 pesos ($17.00) and told him to buy himself some lunch. He was pretty happy, and I'm sure he'll be right back here if any other RV'ers need some mechanical work.

He never did give me back my change from the parts bill! I don't care...for a total cost of 300 pesos ($25.50) the brakes are fixed! Have I mentioned lately that I love Mexico?

What a beautiful spot we have here!

Ruth made a chicken stir fry for dinner. Delicious!

My stomach feels a little better today. Not 100% yet, but it looks like the worst is over.

Super comfy reclining zero gravity camping chairs are on sale at Amazon...

  1. What a deal. For twenty-five bucks? That's worth it just having someone willing to crawl under there. Doing the actual work (and getting involved with brake fluid) is an added bonus.

  2. That stir fry really looks scrumptious! Amazon is currently selling other colors of that exact same chair for even less, so be a savvy shopper and save.

  3. Puppies! So cool you could be there for that. I agree though, pets make it difficult to travel the world like you guys do.

    1. The puppies look so cute. Looks like we won't be moving for a little while now! We love enjoying other people's pets and we get lots of that when we are traveling.

  4. Quite a deal on that repair. Along with the lunch money, you could have given him a free puppy! :cD

    1. Kevin said it would have probably cost almost $300 to have had that work done at home and we would have had to drive to their business as well. It's nice when they make house calls here. At the time the puppies weren't born, if he was only a day later!

  5. I hope you used steel brake line ! Glad to hear it's fixed! We're stuck in Alabama and in the process of getting our engine swapped. I wish it was as easy. Charlie of " Rolling Earthquake".. http://www.cmhl09.blogspot.com

    1. Yes, it was replaced with a steel brake line. Sounds like our problem was very small in comparison to yours, hope it all goes well.

  6. We were in Puerto Valarta just last Tuesday... looks like we just missed meeting you folks. However, it's just as well as Bill got really sick the next day and we didn't even get off the ship in Mazatlan (Wednesday) nor at Cabo (Thursday)... so... as much as we'd like to meet y'all in person one of these days, aren't you glad we didn't breathe on you this time?

    1. We saw your ship docked up as we flew into the airport on Tuesday, that is pretty funny. Sorry that Bill was under the weather. Even if he had been feeling fine, I don't think it would have worked because as I mentioned we only flew in on Tuesday and that was at about 4pm and we still needed to get out to Sherman who was at least a 1 hour local bus ride away and we needed to get there before dark. Hope you enjoyed your cruise other than those few days where Bill wasn't feeling well. Hopefully our paths will cross somewhere down the road.

  7. Glad you are feeling better. You certainly got a great deal on that repair. Especially nice since you are knowledgeable and know he did a good job.

    1. Kevin was so happy with the price and the work and the fact that it wasn't him having to lie down on the ground and fiddle around in that tight area.

  8. I have friends in Saulita. Dee and MJ Medd. They're there for the Winter, every Winter. Check them out; they're older but very up to date. Of course I love the puppy story and would have hard time resisting them. I'm in Colón, Panama getting ready to go through the Canal tomorrow.

    1. Not sure if or how long we will be in Sayulita but we will keep that in mind, thanks Mary-Pat.

Glad you are having fun on your cruise.
