So, not sure when we'll get this posted. On top of that, I can't get Chrome to open up, so am trying to work it with Internet Explorer and that's not going so well either!
But on the bright side...we're back in our motorhome!
Yesterday, we flew from Toluca (just outside of Mexico City) to Puerto Vallarta. First time flying with the local Mexican carrier, Interjet. And we gotta say, we're impressed! It was only an hour and five minutes flight, but even for a short flight it was nice to have the extra legroom. The only time we've been on a plane with that much legroom it was in first class and I'll tell you, that doesn't happen very often!
And, they even served free booze!
So, note to self... when flying in Mexico, try to use Interjet.
Arrived just after 4:00pm. We knew how to take the local bus from the airport out to Valle de Banderas, so we waited outside the airport. Didn't take long, and our bus arrived. It was pretty full but Ruth got a seat right away. Not vey comfy because we had our bags with us and we ended up with our bags on our laps most of the journey. And boy, did we stand out like sore thumbs! Not very often a couple of gringos get on the local bus to head out to Valle de Banderas.
Then, we get into the central plaza and get off the bus with our bags.
We knew that there wouldn't be any food in Sherman, and we needed some supper. I went to the local roast chicken place, but they were already sold out. So Ruth went into the fruit and veggie store and bought eggs, and some fruit and veggie. That'll keep us going until we can get stocked up today.
Then, we looked for a taxi...but there were none to be had. The girl in the fruit store said that there are only collectivos. Hmm. We knew we could walk to Sherman. Without bags, it's probably a 20 to 30 minute walk. With bags, not the easiest, but it was doable. So we set off.
We walked by one house where we knew the people outside. They own a little restaurant beside the RV park and they recognized us from before. The man offered to drive us there! Nice! That was much appreciated and he was quite hapy to take the 50 pesos I offered him for the service.
Sherman looked pretty sad. Very dirty. It's pretty humid here over the summer, and he needs a good scrubbing. And he was partly under a tree so there's a bunch of bird crap over the front end.
Overall, the interior was not bad. A couple of dead ants, a couple of dead wasps, and a couple of mouse poops. Only enough to say that one or two passed through. We haven't seen any indication that any mice were living in here at all.
We sat out with park owners Garry and Jean and they plied us with a few welcome drinks! Nice to see them again.
Lots of time over the next few days to get Sherman all cleaned up, so we better get to it. We had planned on sitting here between a week or two, but with the poor internet connection from our cell stick, we'll play it by ear.
Happy to be back in Sherman!
Ruth's smile says it all. Its good to be home. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Dianne, and yes it is good to be "home"!
DeleteYour face says it all Ruth :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen!
DeleteLike being home. Well, more than "like" I suppose. You get to sleep in your own bed! Hazzah!
ReplyDeleteFor us Sherman is "home" and yes, it was wonderful to sleep in our own bed again!
DeleteNice isn't it to be treated well on an airplane! That's Mexico, Central and South America. AeroMexico, Interjet, MexicoConnect, and Volaris have open bar. VivaAerobus charges 40 pesos for a cocktail which isn't bad. Can't wait to see Sherman all cleaned up. Happy happy!
ReplyDeleteHave to say that Interjet is our favourite Mexican airline yet with Volaris a close second. VivaAerobus was OK as long as you follow the rules but they will charge you for everything!
DeleteWe can't wait to get Sherman all cleaned up and looking spiffy again!
Welcome home! Time to get scrubbin'.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, and yes there is a lot of scrubbing to do!
DeleteNo place like home! Glad Sherman is good!

ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie! We sure were happy to be reunited again. Can't wait to get things all cleaned up.
DeleteNothing like returning to your home after such a long time away.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't as long this time as it was last year. All in all, we are definitely happy to be back!
