So, let's let the photos tell most of the story...
First thing, we went for a walk around the two campgrounds. One campground has electric hookups, and one has no hookups at all.
A new bike trail has been built beside Watchman Campground.

We rode our bikes to one of the further bus stops, and then took the bus to a short hiking trail.

Perfect weather.
We did the fairly short Emeralds Pools trails. Only about 3 miles because we were saving ourselves for today's hike that you'll hear about tomorrow morning!

Quite a few people because it was a fairly easy hike.
You can see the sprinkling of water coming down. That's actually a waterfall that we are behind.
Crossing the bridge you get another nice view of the Virgin River.
We actually tried to have a bit of a coasting day yesterday because we were doing an 8 mile (13 km) hike this morning and we were saving our energy for that. You can read about it in the next post, hopefully Sunday morning!

I bet you did the Angels Landing trail....I've hike it but made it to the zipper and had to turn around...it was getting dark and I neglected to bring my head lights. I hiked it in middle of summer when it was very hot...hiking that mountain took drinking a lot of water. Anyway, Emerald Pools were dry except for wet spots on rock walls and the Virgin River was a trickle. Nice place Zion.
ReplyDeleteYou would have lost the bet! Although we did think about it but end the end chose to do Observation Point, and not sorry that we did.
DeleteI don't think we would enjoy the area as much in the summer, there would be way too many people for our liking and the temperatures would be to hot for any really enjoyable hiking, at least our mind.

ReplyDeleteWrong! We were very tempted to do it but instead chose to do the Observation Point Trail and not at all sorry that we made this decision. Not as much thrill factor but definitely a much better hike overall and the views were outstanding!

ReplyDeleteYou lose! And, yes we gave up the bragging rights, maybe next time! Have to admit I am not sorry that we decided to go with the Observation Point Trail, this was a fantastic hike and amazing views the whole way along the trail.

ReplyDeleteMost of the pictures are taken with Kevin's camera which is a Nikon P520 and when we are driving some of the pictures are taken with my little point and shoot camera which is an Olympus SZ-12.
