Then, a few hours more and we'll arrive at the park. We don't actually start work until Friday, so this gives us a little time to get things organized and clean up Sherman.
We'll have to stop in the city of Swift Current along the way and do some grocery shopping and get our cellular "mi-fi" reactivated because that's our only source of internet while at the park.
Kind of curious as to how everything has held up over the winter. They've actually had a very mild winter there this year, and an early spring. We might get there and find that the grass needs cutting in places! And, they're calling for a welcoming high of 25C (77F) with sunshine today, so that's a fantastic way to start our time there this year!
Yesterday was a bit of a dull drive. It started off with 7 miles of road construction!
Just gotta take it slow.
But after that, it was clear sailing, with very little traffic.
We went through the city of Lewistown.
And we stopped for lunch at the James Kipp Recreation Area and went for a walk around the campground there.
We pulled into the town of Malta, Montana after doing about 190 miles (300 kms), which is perfect because that's about how many miles we have left to do today.
Malta has a city park where you're allowed to camp overnight for a fee of only $3.00. Gotta love an RV friendly town! No hookups, but there are water spigots all over the park. And, the park has a free unsecured wifi signal. Bonus!

Sherman, parked up for the night at Malta, Montana's Trafton City Park.
Yesterday's drive, 190 miles (300 kms) from Harlowton to Malta, Montana.
Anybody like peanuts? I do...I love 'em! Amazon has a great deal on a three pack of Planter's Peanuts. You have to be an Amazon Prime member to do this, but you can try Amazon Prime free for 30 days.
And for our Canadian readers Kindle eReaders are still on sale...if you've ever wanted one, now is the time...
Hi K and R: Welcome back to Canada. We live in Medicine Hat and hope to spend a few days in Cabri this summer so we can swap some stories. We met Ruth in Lo de Marco this winter during the Santa Clause parade. cheers Tom and Carroll
ReplyDeleteHi there Tom and Carroll, yes I remember you both from the parade in Lo de Marco. Sorry that we couldn't have had a little more time together but looking forward to seeing you both this summer. The weather here at the campground it perfect right now. ;-)
DeleteGreat price for the camping spot, but it does not look like you have a lot of others taking advance of the price:)
ReplyDeleteThere was one other RV there and it looked like someone might have been "truck" camping as well. I bet they get busier in the summer time.
DeleteBest stock up on liquor before crossing!
ReplyDeleteWe crossed with only what we had in the motorhome at the time. Normally we don't drink over the summer because we are on call 24/7.
DeleteGreat price for camping, although I still like "free" better, but can't complain at $3.
ReplyDeleteCurious as well to see how things fared over the winter at the campground.
Free is definitely better but we would rather pay $3 and actually "camp" than stay free in a Walmart parking lot somewhere. This way we were able to bring out the BBQ and cook some nice chicken on it for dinner, can't do that in a Walmart parking lot.
DeleteThe campground did well over the winter, they actually had a pretty mild one here. The cleanup looks like it will be a little less work this year but part of that is because we left it in good shape last fall.
Welcome back to expensive Canada, enjoy the nice weather.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't that much more than what it was in the States once you add in the exchange rate. Gas is cheaper this year here than it was last year but not as cheap as the U.S. and we'll see how the groceries fare up once we have done a couple of shops over the next few weeks.
DeleteLove the price of that campground as well as the pic of the beautiful rolling hills of Montana. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne, the campground was definitely a bargain! The nice thing about Montana is that the scenery is so totally different one area to the next. Part of what we do through on this day and yesterday reminded us very much of Saskatchewan, and where our park is.
DeleteYea you're almost home!
ReplyDeleteWe are home now, and what beautiful weather to welcome us back. A big change from our last two years.
Delete$3 a night! I'm on my way!
ReplyDeleteSorry we couldn't stick around and wait for you Chris! ;-)
DeleteWe love those little community campgrounds! They're just one of the many benefits of staying off the interstates.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home!
You have that totally right Esther! Thanks for the welcome back, it actually feels good to be back here again.
DeleteWe had no idea how great the city parks were until we took this trip from Tucson to Missouri. There was rarely anyone else at the parks and if so, they were very quiet. It's hard to beat the price with water and electric. Glad to see you're almost home. We hope you have a wonderful summer! Grace (from Tucson)
ReplyDeleteYep, we have stayed at many of these types of parks over the years. We have even found a few that were free, which is even better. It's going to be a great summer! :-)
