Happy Ruth!

She had been totally missing her Tilley hat and we hadn't heard back from them as to whether or not her old hat was repairable. So we were surprised when a package arrived yesterday. Apparently, the day they received her old hat, they inspected it right away and immediately sent out a new one.

Now that's good customer service!

While we were in town yesterday picking up Ruth's package, I went and picked up our old work truck that was in having some brake work done. While I did that, Ruth went to a nearby greenhouse and picked up some more flowers that were on sale.

Flowers really dress the place up.

The entrance to  the park.

Yesterday was our first "fish fry" of the year at the park concession. It wasn't super busy, but Ruth went and sat at the entrance gate and checked incoming vehicles for park passes. This will become a regular thing from now on as we get into busy season which starts next Friday.

Ruth, at the entrance gate.

Happy Ruth, with her new Tilley hat!

We ended up with an overcast sky and a few showers in the evening, but when the sun came out it lit up the hills at Lake Diefenbaker and with a dark sky in the background it looked really neat.

The water level has been steadily rising, but a report out last week says that it won't reach it's maximum this year unless there is significant rainfall west of us.

A white pelican in the distance.

The Riverhills lit up by the evening sky.

Yesterday, one of our readers bought a set of fitness equipment from Amazon.com and I think this is the perfect fitness set for anybody who lives in an RV for any length of time. In fact, I've put one of these on our list of things to buy when we return to the U.S. in October. It's difficult for people in RV's to do any kind of weight training because you can't carry around all of the necessary equipment in an RV. However, a resistance set like this would be perfect, and at a very reasonable price. Also, it's highly rated...

The same item is available on Amazon.ca here in Canada...

...however taking the current exchange rate into consideration the pricing is much better through Amazon.com...

    1. Thank you, it seems that the little bunny rabbits here like my flowers too, grrr!

Yes, we love to give a big shout out for good customer service. There are definitely still companies out there that go that extra step for they customers and Tilley is certainly at the to of the list for that.

  3. Here in Langley (Lower Mainland) BC we use the GVRD Derbt Reach Park. Half the park has camping along the river, the other half is a miss of picnic tables and off leash dog park again all on the river. Thankfully there is no charge to use this park for our picnics as we would be in the poor house otherwise. They do have a charge for the campers. There are trails that run for a few kilometers to get some exercise.

    1. Sounds like a lovely park Shelagh, I especially love the idea of an off leash park for dogs that includes being able to let them swim in the river. We have one section off to the side where some people will let their dogs go for a swim and we usually don't mind that unless someone complains. We do have a day use fee but if you purchase the season pass, that allows you access all season long and that money then goes back into the park so we can keep it looking great.

  4. Wow! Beautiful pictures of the lake & hills. Some might think the hills are "plain", but I'm from Montana and they feel like home to me. Love how the flowers contrast with the golden ocher of the landscape there. Wish we lived close enough to visit your park. The fish fry sounds fun!

    1. We think the hills are beautiful too, especially when up at the top of the hill most of the landscape is flat. This area is really growing on us. Wish you lived closer to, we love to get visitors. ;-)

    1. Thank you Paul and Marsha, I am happy to have my Tilley hat again and just in time for all the hot weather that we are getting.

The lake would look even better if the water level was higher.

  10. Alright, Ruth got her hat back! Fantastic pics of the lake. Hindsight, we would travel the back roads, spend the night stealth on an abandoned farm. Nice place to roam around.
