I like when it's busy, however...

I consider the most important part of my job here at the park is to make sure that every camper is happy and enjoys their time here. That's the number one most important thing.

Yesterday evening, I spent from dinner time until 10:00pm trying to make people happy!

Dealing with people who aren't happy with their firepit to those who can't get along with their neighbours. And everything in between. It was non stop for about four hours. But, I think we succeeded in making everyone satisfied with the outcome.

And then of course getting up at 12:30am because I was woken by people banging the tetherball around. Seriously? These guys were in their 20's and should have known better. I was already out there, so decided to walk around and had to talk to three different parties to remind them of quiet hours.

Then, up again at 2:00am to check again. This time, things were pretty quiet.

I do like seeing the people having fun during the day though.

Ruth, taking Cassie for a stroll.

Lots of vehicles around the day use area.

Ruth's flowers are coming along nicely.

The boat launch was a busy spot!

The water is barely high enough, but some people decided it's alright to leave their boats in the water.

Parking is getting tight on a busy day.

"The circle" area. These are mostly seasonal campers.

And these are day to day campers.

The office. Nope, it's nobody's birthday. Just one of the concession ladies having some fun!

A great lightweight camping hammock on sale at Amazon.com. And it's on "lightening deal" later this morning so check back for more savings. Highly rated...

Canadian shopper will have to fend for themselves this morning as I couldn't find any worthwhile deals on Amazon.ca. However if I were you, I would sign up for the free Amazon Prime membership to get ready for the 15th. It costs you nothing for the free trial if you've never been a Prime member before. (I did!).

  1. It's sad when campers don't respect others. We had a group of tenters come in late last night, made a huge dinner in the gazebo and stay up till at least 4am. They weren't too quiet either. Unfortunately the management here doesn't come down the hill to check things out, they suggest calling the cops if there are issues. Oh well.

    1. For the most part everyone is really good and are just having a good time around the campfire. We don't mind it they want to stay up until 4am but they have to stay quiet as to not annoy their neighbours. If anyone has a problem they are more the welcome to come and wake us up and Kevin can then deal with the issue. What we don't like is hearing about it the next morning when it is too late to do anything about it.

  2. Inconsiderate neighbors is one reason we don't camp much. I would much rather camp with bears and raccoons out in the winderness - you know how they behave and can adjust accordingly :)

    1. I have to admit that on a busy weekend here we wouldn't be happy campers but on a quiet weekend or during the week it is a beautiful place. We would definitely prefer camping in the middle of nowhere with nobody around except nature.

  3. Nice that you can keep things under control. The mixture of young and old people, camping, the weekend and alcohol can cause some issues as long as nobody gets hurt thats a big bonus.

    1. At this campground it isn't just the young that can be a problem but as I said most people here are great and are just having a good time. And really the iproblems that Kevin had to deal with didn't have anything to do with alcohol being the issue.

  4. Gee whiz, what are some people so inconsiderate, or just plain stupid! It isn't always easy to camp with the birds and raccoons, esp when getting from Point A to Point Z, but camping with humans many times is frustrating. Sure, fun is fun, but after 10 PM, keep it quiet!!!

    1. 10pm is way TOO early here for quiet time. NOBODY is in bed at that time, we find that even 11pm is too early, it is only just dusk at about that time and EVERYBODY is still up, I am not kidding! :-)

We really don't mind what time people go to bed just as long as they are quiet and we don't hear about any noise complaints the next day. The few campers that were up at 12:30am were just sitting around the campfire behaving but were forgetting that at night noise travels easily and their loud voices and laughter were just a bit too loud. When he went around later there were still people up but they were being quiet which is want we want.

  6. Apart from all the fun you're having, think of the money you'll have to spend when the season ends! Yikes!

    1. It's hard to believe that we are already just about half way through our summer!

  8. I am driving since 3 weeks in West Virginia and in every State Park the rule was "Alcoholic Beverages are strictly prohibited". There was never noise after 10:00 pm.

    1. Yes, I can believe it would be quiet after 10pm with no alcohol. If we banned alcohol from this park I don't think we would have any campers though!

  9. Enjoying reading your blog. I hope you haven't been affected too badly by the fires over there, on our Australian News tonight I see we are sending fire fighters over to Saskatchewan

    1. None of the fires were around here but we did get some days a couple of weeks ago that were smoke filled because the wind pushed the smoke our way. Yes, we had heard that Australia sent some fire fighters over here to help us out and so did Mexico. We thank all the countries that have been helping us out.

  10. I think we need to send you to the UN as a diplomat, you'd be great at getting nations to get along after all your experience at the campground! :cD

  11. Ruth's flowers are lovely. I must have missed Cassie somewhere along the way. I'll have to go back and look. I'll bet a lot of the campers are happy there is someone like you quieting people down. I always wonder what they don't understand about "Quiet Hours 10PM-7AM".

    1. Cassie belongs to one of the ladies that works in the concession and we are helping out by doggie sitting for her. She spends the nights in our trailer and part of the days.

Our quiet times are 11pm to 7am but nobody is in bed at 11pm around here. Literally everyone is around their campfires at that time so it is pointless to tell everyone to be quiet then although there is never any loud music, even during the day you don't normally here loud music.
