Getting our hiking legs in shape

We finally made it out for a hike yesterday afternoon. For the first time since we've been here this season! Only an hour and a half, but we still managed almost 6.4 kms (4 miles) and weren't at all tired.

I love having the iPhone with me and using the MotionX GPS app.

It tells you all kinds of neat statistics, as well as of course having a mapping program so you can see where you are, and a final map of where you hiked.

Neat stuff. So, here's some pics from the hike...

Ruth, heading out into the riverhills.

Wonder what the story is behind this old car...

Following the cow path.

The sun is shining, but those clouds look awfully dark!

We startled this deer out of the bush.

Lost an antler?

Yup. Caught in the rain.

Cactus in Saskatchewan.

Ruth, taking a picture.

Still some wildflowers out.

They grow a lot of Durum wheat in Saskatchewan.

Harvest is just about finished.

It was a good walk. Now that things have slowed down here at the park, we're going to try and get out for a hike every second day to get our hiking legs back into shape!

    1. Both were used but only two photos here are with our new Fuji FinePix80. The one of Kevin (without the antler) and the one of Kevin in the rain.

  6. We truly enjoyed our time at the park even though it was just a weekend. The drive through the province was beautiful although we were told it was boring rolling hills. I guess I like boring :) Find out about the old car, I'll bet it's an interesting story.

    1. The thing about Saskatchewan that we have since found out, there is more to it than the "boring" rolling hills and fields. People need to get off the main highways though so that they can see it. We have since found out there is lots to see in Saskatchewan.

I bet that car does have a good story but I think it will be hard to find someone that knows what happened. We will ask around though!

    1. It was beautiful out in the coulees around the campground. Luckily the rain only lasted for a few minutes and then it was done.

    1. Yes, we are surprised that they manage to survive here considering how cold and harsh the winters can be in this area.
