Moving into the motorhome...and supermoon photos!

Getting Sherman all cleaned up yesterday and transferring things over because today is moving day!

It's amazing how dusty it was inside after five months of sitting. Sure, we were in and out of there a few times and I did some minor work in there, but still...it was dusty! Everything had to be wiped down. But, better to move into a clean house, right? Ruth did the stove and oven, and the fridge, and the bathroom and we got the fresh water tank filled and the waste holding tanks flushed.

We're going to sleep the next two nights in the motorhome, and then we're off!

It's a little easier this year because we do have the motorhome here. Last year we didn't have somewhere else to live while we were getting the house trailer here shut down so it all kind of had to happen in one day when we shut the water supply shut off. This year, we can take two days to do it so it doesn't seem so rushed.

Got the bicycles all cleaned up and loaded on the back.

There's a lot of work involved in getting the park itself shut down too. I've got four of the five washroom buildings winterized and closed up...one to go and I'll do that one today. And I've got to change the oil and service the machinery here before we go so that it's ready for next spring. And I have to put up the beaver fencing to protect the trees. That's a pretty big job. I broke it into three days so started yesterday and I'll finish up tomorrow. And the weekend is over so I can bring the dock in from the waterfront. We did have a couple of people come and use the boatlaunch yesterday so it makes it easier for them when the dock is in.

Oh yes...super full moon yesterday!

I had checked to see what the times were in this zone and it said that moonrise was at 6:56pm. I forgot about it though and we were having supper when I glanced at the clock and it said 7:04pm. I jumped up and grabbed the camera and ran outside!

Moonrise over the riverhills of Lake Diefenbaker.

It was only just coming over the horizon. The eclipse part of it had already begun as you can see from the shadow on the left side of the moon.

We went out every half hour or so to take some more pics. We were really lucky that we had a totally clear sky because many across Canada apparently had a cloudy evening.

It was really neat how the color changed throughtout the whole event.

Almost the total lunar eclipse. I did take another one during the full eclipse, but it turned out a bit fuzzy!

Anyhow, glad we got to see that. There won't be another one like it until 2033!

Smart Weigh bathroom scale on sale this morning...this is a lightening deal, so you'll have to be quick!

The little waterproof camera that we bought this summer for $199 (which was a good deal at the time!) has now come on sale even cheaper here in Canada...

  1. In Ottawa we saw the eclipse between 9 - 10 but it was dark so didn't see the 'blood' moon unless it came later.

    1. Isn't it suppose to be dark? ;-) I hear there was quite a bit of cloud cover that came into the area just as the eclipse was happening. so that is probably why you didn't see it.

  2. Beautiful - glad someone got to see it. We had low clouds and missed most of it.

    1. We have been hearing that from a lot of people. We noticed as we were heading off to bed that some clouds started to roll in here too, so we were very lucky that during the eclipse itself we had a beautiful clear sky.

  3. Wow, you got some great shots of the Super Moon. Lucky to have such clear skies. We weren't quite as lucky in Northern California, but we did see it. You guys are fixin' to head out!

    1. Thank you Paul and Marsha. It seems that quite a few people had too much cloud cover in their areas to see this beautiful event. :-(

  8. Looks like good moon pictures to me. We were totally clouded over during the big event. Luckily our daughter in Texas got some nice shots with her telescope:)

    1. It would have been so cool to have seen it through the telescope. Our daughter's husband also has a beautiful telescope that they were going to view the eclipse with and then like you the clouds rolled in and they couldn't see it. :-(

    1. I am not sure that I would call it fun, it seems that we are going in every direction at the moment. Tonight we can sit back and finally relax. Too bad we didn't have some beer and wine to celebrate with, oh well won't be long and we will. :-)

  10. Bet it feels so good to be sleeping in Sherman again. We even went into our friends for a coffee the other day to get our motorhome fix. Another 6 months and we should have our own again though. Safe travels. x

    1. Yes, it sure was nice to be sleeping in him again. Can't wait to really get back on the road, only a couple more days here in Ottawa and then we will be back in Sherman again and heading south.

We can totally understand that need to get your motorhome fix. We are looking forward to seeing what you will end up with and then hopefully be able to meet up with you next winter in Spain.
