We don't get very much opportunity to explore this part of Saskatchewan, despite the fact that we spend the whole summer here. So today, we're going to hop in the little blue car and go for a drive to another regional park. Just to have a look and see how they do things and hopefully go for a hike.
We had bought a new Garmin GPS unit a couple of months ago but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. It comes with free unlimited map updates, so I got it out of the box and figured I would do some updating. But the file is huge and so we need to find an unsecured high speed connection to download it. Again noticing the limits of our cellular connection here.
With all the trailers gone, we can now shut the water off for the season and complete the winterizing of the bathrooms. We've got one done already...four more to go. I've got a few more areas of grass to cut one last time, and then I can do the maintenance on some of our machinery and get that put away for the winter. The kitchen building is almost all boarded up.
The motorhome is close to being ready to go. I've ordered a fan clutch that I want to install before we go, and then we can bring Sherman down to one of the sites near our house so that we can start to move in. It'll be so much more convenient this year having Sherman here so that we can take our time getting the house shut down for the winter. Last year, we had to do everything on the very last day and it was a bit rushed.
Oh! And I was checking all the fluids and I filled up Sherman's windshield washer bottle. I went to snap the lid on the bottle and the bottle shattered! 20 years old and I guess the plastic was as brittle as can be. Problem is, I can't seem to find the exact replacement. I can find a universal replacement, but it's half price in the U.S., so I'll wait until we get down there to replace it.
Sept 20th last year.
Sept 20th this year.
I had thought that fall was a little earlier this year, but when I compared the pictures it's actually about the same. Except that it looks like last year had a few less clouds in the sky!
Anyhow, we're off to enjoy our day. Hope you enjoy yours too!

ReplyDeleteOne day off each season, whether we need it or not!
DeleteEnjoy the day off:)
ReplyDeleteWe did, thank you! :-)
DeleteIf anybody deserves a day off, it's you two. You've worked tons over the summer. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We have worked hard and it was really nice to get away and explore somewhere new to us.
DeleteGotta love it, enjoy !
ReplyDeleteThanks, George!
DeleteOnce upon a time I had a vehicle that was so old that the windshield washer fluid container started to leak. (didn't quite shatter, but the same result) Lined it with a plastic bag. Lasted until I sent the car to the wreckers.
ReplyDeleteHave a fine day out.
Hmm...that might be an idea for the interim.
DeleteAmazing how those two photos are just about the same. They could be in one of those children's books where you find what is different in the two photos.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day. We really enjoyed our tour of St. Augustine.
Yeah, we thought they looked pretty similar too, guess the colours are on schedule after all.
DeleteLooks dry this year compared to last year. Not sure if your location is considered west or midwest, but the ground is so darned parched in northern California, wondered if you're down in rainfall, too. Hope you had a great day off.
ReplyDeleteWe had and extremely dry May, June and July but since just before our long weekend in August we have been getting enough rain and last week we got dumped on. We are probably considered midwest. We definitely aren't as dry as northern California has been, hope they get some much needed rain soon.
DeleteSo do we!!
