So, no hike to the waterfall to show you yet, and we've extended our stay here until Saturday morning.
On Saturday, we'll have to find somewhere new to stay but it will still be in this area because we haven't yet seen much of what we came here to see. Good thing we have lots of time and taking a couple of days to rest up and get better isn't an issue.
Ruth thanks you all for the well wishes. Not a great sleep last night, but she already felt well enough to get up and make tea and coffee, and she says she's feeling hungry for breakfast so that's a good sign. We'll see what the rest of the day brings as it comes along.
While Ruth was resting yesterday, I still had myself to look after and we didn't have anything for lunch. I asked one of the other hostel guests if she wanted to walk into the village of Boquia with me for lunch, and she agreed, so I had some company. Allie is a 23 year old in between finishing school and starting her career, and is traveling alone. Interesting girl to talk to and I enjoyed the lunch. Wish Ruth could have joined us.
When we were done, Allie went into Salento, and I went next door beside the restaurant where the sign had said "RV Park" and "Hospedajes Exotico" (Exotic Accommodation).
So it turns out that the "RV Park" is a single plot where an old 1980's travel trailer is permanently set up and you can rent it by the night. In other words, there is no RV Park. The "Exotic Accommodation" is 10 or so different types of structures...some tree houses, some tents. A couple of them are really well done, but at 160,000 pesos ($78.40 CAD) per night they're way overpriced for the area. I noticed that only one was occupied.
I did notice across the street another property that advertised secure camping and a class B would have fit in there fine...
Secure camping. With the cows.
Then I walked back to the farm hostel where we're staying. It was another decent day...second day in a row with no rain.
Another shot of the river through town.
A couple of calves.
And a kitten. This little fellow sure is friendly. He comes and cuddles on my lap all the time.
The El Mocambo farm hostel.
So, it will likely be just another day of rest today...we'll play it by ear depending on how Ruth feels.

And in Canada...
Sure hope today is a much better day for Ruth. Exotic accommodations - I think their ideas and mine differ. .
ReplyDeleteSo far today has been much better, thank you Jim and Sandie. You might change your mind on the accommodations, Kevin said they did look pretty neat and they included bathrooms and some kitchen amenities. They were definitely not rustic.
DeleteTake your time and get Ruth better, then all will be good.
ReplyDeleteThank you George, I am working on it.
DeleteJust can't get over the lush greenery - so beautiful! You picked our kind of area to explore. Love the farm! Wondering about something - I noticed in some pics Ruth drinking fruity type juices - recently dealt with that myself - not fun. Cranberry juice helped clear it up but one has to be careful - too much of that isn't good either. Happy day to you both!
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it just so beautiful and green?! This has been a great area, I just feel bad that we didn't get out and do as much as we would have liked because of me not feeling well.
DeleteThat last picture of me with the juice was the first glass of juice that I have had in about a week, my main beverage has been water and a fair bit of it. When we get to a bigger town we will be on the lookout for some cranberry juice.
Hope Ruth is on the mend. I am always fascinated by people's stories and how the single 23 year was traveling before starting her job. Looks like an interesting place, especially the Exocitc RV campground!
ReplyDeleteWell if today is any indication it looks like I finally am. I hope I am not jinxing myself now by saying that. I know I always wonder where they get the money from but good for her for doing. Also many of these younger people manage to find small jobs as they move around that helps, sometimes in return for a room, if working in a hostel. They also manage to do it on the cheap, even more than us! ;-)
DeleteIt wasn't the campground that was Exotic but the accommodations that they also had. Kevin said they looked very nice and had the normal amenities including a basic kitchen.
I can't believe some of the "RV Resorts" in the states haven't tried to use "Exotic Accommodation" in their ads.
ReplyDeletePrayers for a speedy recovery for Ruth.
As I mentioned in my reply to Randy they weren't referring to the RV Park as being exotic but actual accommodations that you can rent just like a hotel room only more like cabins/chalets but as neat tree houses and such.
DeleteThank you for thinking of me, I am working on it and today was a much better day.
No more interesting birds on your walks?
ReplyDeleteYes, we have seen more birds but none that sit still long enough to have their picture taken. We saw two different ones today but only manage to get a picture of one.
DeleteHealing takes time. Don't be in too much of a rush!
ReplyDeleteI know but I am starting to get cabin fever.
DeleteKevin, by "RV Park" I think "RV parked" may have been lost in translation ;) Get well soon, Ruth!
ReplyDeleteHa, that must have been what they meant. Today when we were walking back from the same area we saw another RV Park and it would even fit Sherman.
DeleteThanks for the well wishes. With any luck I didn't over do it today and will feel even better tomorrow.
Hoping Ruth is feeling better soon. We have been following your blog for quite a while and really enjoy your travels. We have been full time RVing for about four years now and credit you guys with helping to get us started with all the good info and resources you have posted on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Ken and Nola, I have certainly felt better today so hopefully it is all uphill from here.
DeleteI am happy to hear that you have found our blog to be a great resource for RVing to you. If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to contact us and we will more than happy to try and help.
Such a beautiful place. Love all that green. Feel better soon, Ruth. I'm cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteWe love it here an didn't mind extending our stay by a few more days.
DeleteThanks Grace, I can feel your energy. ;-)
Maybe the antibiotics you have will kick in. That would be good. :) Feel better soon Ruth!
ReplyDeleteI believe that they are now, I just hope that tomorrow won't be a down day. I am staying postive and hoping for the best. Thanks Karyn Lee.
DeleteHi, nice pictures, and cute kitty, it seems to Lion... I hope Ruth is ok now. Greetings!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea, I am feeling much better now. :-)
DeleteYes the kitten does look like Lion, just much smaller but just as friendly.
