Feliz Navidad!

Merry Christmas to all of our friends, relatives, and loyal blog readers! We hope that you are exactly where you wanted to be today.

We are very happy where we are, with perfect weather and good friends. We are only missing our family this Christmas. Sure would be fun to spend Christmas with the grandkids, they're at the perfect age. Perhaps another year.

We had a good day yesterday just puttering around the motorhome. I cleaned the windows and wiped down the outside.

In the afternoon, we walked into the nearest little community, called El Arco and bought some more fruit. There was a guy with a truckload of pineapples selling them for 10 pesos ($0.83 CAD) each.

Deal of the day at 83 cents a piece! One ripe for now and one that can sit for a couple of days.

In the evening, Chago came to get us around 7:30pm to go see what was going on at the church. Chago and Carmen have three children...a 15 year old boy, Isidro, a 13 year old daughter, Marielle, and another daughter, Fatima, who will be 3 on Sunday.

Marielle and Fatima came with us to the church. Carmen stayed at home doing some cooking, and Isidro is a 15 year old boy...doing his own thing!

There was some kind of ceremony going on where people were lined up with baby dolls and other people were going through kissing the baby dolls and giving candy. No idea what it was all about! We tried asking, but still didn't understand. We didn't stay long...Chago decided it was not very exciting and we agreed.

Chago and Carmen's daughter Marielle, 13.

And other daughter Fatmina who will be 3 on Sunday. Yes, she certainly is adorable!

And then we went back to their place for food. Tamales are a big thing on Christmas Eve in Mexico.

So we had some tamales, and we were pretty much full! Then, Carmen brought our dinner! Turkey breast with a ground beef and veggie topping. It was really good, but unfortunately we couldn't eat the pasta side dish.

Christmas Eve dinner.

A fun Christmas Eve. Back to Sherman by 10:30pm, and a good night's sleep.

This morning, we have friends Luis and family coming over for pancakes and real Canadian maple syrup!

  8. I believe they were representations of baby Jesus, you kiss them and then receive a piece of candy.

    1. We had figured that but we couldn't figure out why there was so many. I thought that they would only use one and then place it in the manger. I guess this is just another way of getting candies. ;-)
