And it helps with beautiful sunny days. We decided to go for a walk yesterday morning, and we first headed down to the big Almeda Hidalgo park which had been closed when we tried to go there the other day.
As we knew it would be, it was definitely open on a Sunday morning. All kinds of people out enjoying the bright blue sky.
Almeda Hidalgo Park in Queretaro.
Big playground for the kids.
Another parakeet family.
We spotted another parakeet nest high up in a tree. Parakeets appear to be very sociable birds in the wild.
We weren't very far away from the aquaduct that we had visited with Peter and Shelagh the other day, and I wanted a picture of the view with a clear blue sky. It had been overcast the morning we were there with them. So we walked over there.
If you need to buy a pinata, this is the place!
Nice view of the 280 year old aquaduct.
From there, we headed up to the small river that runs through the city. The river itself isn't very nice looking, but they've beautified the sidewalks along the river and it makes for a nice walk.
Traffic circle statue and fountain.

And Kevin!
When we go for a walk, you never know how long it's going to be! Yesterday, we did almost 9 kms (5.6 miles).
Today, we're going to a ruins site that is located in a suburb of the city, and only a few kms from where we are parked up at the Flamingo Inn Hotel. We could almost walk there, but I found a local bus that goes in that direction so we'll bus it part of the way.

If you're not carrying a jump start battery pack in your car or RV, you should be. Now is the time to buy one, because it's on sale...today only...
Not on sale today in Canada, but this is the link...
Love the parakeets, great to see them in the wild.
ReplyDeleteI think it was pretty cool to see that too!
DeleteAwesome pictures. I'm looking at single digit temperatures today. Picked up a FAT bike yesterday for my next trip into Mexico.
ReplyDeleteBrrr...sounds cold. I hope your next visit to Mexico is real soon. :-)
DeleteBeautiful city!
ReplyDeleteLove the parakeet nests of your last two posts - never seen them before.
ReplyDeleteWe had never seen their nests before either. It was fun watching them. They are quite loud!
DeleteDespite the cloudy morning we loved the city too. Our tour guides were great!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Peter and Shelagh.
We had fun too! It just would have been so much prettier with the blue sky but when you have good friends around you it doesn't matter what the weather is like. :-)
DeleteAnother area added to the list of places to visit when we finally get to Mexico.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I turn around I seem to be adding more places to visit in Mexico and we have already been just about everywhere here, or at least we thought we had. ;-)
DeleteMore wonderful sites to see and a sunny day to boot !
ReplyDeleteThere always seems to be new things to see here!
DeleteNice to see a clean city!
ReplyDeleteWe love the fact that there is very little in the way of graffiti here.
DeleteYou are doing a great job promoting the city.
ReplyDeleteI call 'em as I see 'em. We did not do such a great job promoting Bogota!
DeleteI lived seven summers in the State of Queretaro, City of Tequisquiapan. Often I traveled to the City of Queretaro for business stuff.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in all that time, I never knew how lovely the City of Queretaro is, until reading about it and seeing your pics.

.
I guess now you will have to come to Queretaro for a visit sometime and really see it. We drove through Tequisquiapan on our way down in October but didn't have time to stop and do any sightseeing. Looks like there is lots to do in that area as well so on another trip to Mexico we will make the effort to check things out there.
DeleteYou are welcome, glad that you enjoyed it.
