And then there were two...

Ruth mostly worked on the house yesterday. The rain gutters needed cleaning, so she actually got up on the roof and did that. There's not much of a slope, so not really dangerous...you just have to be careful. And she trimmed back some branches while up there.

And, she cleaned all of the windows. They tend to only get done once a year, so they needed it!

While she was doing that, I was removing our beaver fence. We tend to have a problem here with both beavers and porcupines damaging our trees, and so every fall I put up chicken wire fencing all along the waterfront trees. It's almost a full day job to put it up, and most of the day yesterday taking it down and rolling it up.

Ruth and I both said that it feels good to get some outdoor exercise though!

Today, we start on leaf and branch cleanup. Although, I need to get the office computer up and running and up to date with vacant sites because we start taking reservations on Thursday morning at 8:00am. I'll spend much of that day on the phone.

Went for a stroll around the park in the evening.

Oh...and we have an owl update!

Two baby great horned owls.

We had suspicions that there were two little ones, but we hadn't yet seen two sets of eyes at the same time! And, it's difficult getting a clear shot of the nest because there are leaves on the tree that weren't there at this time in previous years.

  2. I love owls - definitely two sets of eyes there. Getting back into the groove pretty fast this year, I guess it helps so much that you closed the park yourselves so things were done correctly. You may want to keep staying on for that reason alone.

    1. We love them as well, every time we go by it seems like we need to stop and have a look up at them.

Last year great as well because we had closed up the year before too and yes, it makes it much easier when you come back and things are ready to start up. Also because of the work we have done these past two years in the park it also makes cleanup easier. Walking through the park the other day we were amazed at how much we already have accomplished here and looking forward to getting more done this season as well.

    1. No trouble keeping busy here but we will try to take a little bit more time off this year compared to the other years if we can.

    1. Thanks, Sue and Doug! We love watching the babies grow each spring. It will only be a few more weeks before they leave the nest and then we won't see too much of them after that.

    1. Come up for a visit then but you better make it quick, they won't be in the nest too much longer!

    1. Yes, it is lots of fun watching them but it is harder this year because the leaves are almost all out so our view isn't as clear as it should be!
