Nice to have a chef in the house!

Rainy start to the day yesterday as it had rained overnight, and then it poured for an hour or so in the morning before drizzling for a few hours after that. The rain guage says we had about 3/4 of an inch.

So that translated into a really quiet day here at the park, and maybe only four or five of our seasonal campers had showed up for the weekend knowing that rain was in the forecast. Today is supposed to be sunny, but rain is forecast again for tomorrow.

So our daughter Lindsey helped Ruth do some baking in the morning. Lindsey is a chef by trade, although she enjoys working as a waitress more so that's what she's doing for a job right now. Plus, she makes more money and she enjoys the interaction with the customers. Good waitresses make good money in Ontario where the minimum wage for serving staff is $9.80 an hour, and she often makes $15-$20 an hour in tips on top of that.

But that doesn't mean she dislikes cooking. So she took some time to make us brunch yesterday morning.

Eggs Benedict...delicious!

The best eggs benedict I've ever had. Simply wonderful. They had bought some gluten free english muffins on sale the other day, so this put them to good use. With homemade hollandaise sauce. You want to know why hollandaise sauce tastes so good? There is 3/4 of a pound of butter in it!! Oh well, you have to live every now and again, right?

After brunch Valine came over with her painting kit and the kids did some painting.

Happy Sadie!

Cameron painting.

The sun came out for a couple of hours in the afternoon so we went outside to get some fresh air.

Our baby great horned owls aren't babies any more, and they left the nest this week. Now, they're a little hard to find in the trees, but we do spot one of them occasionally.

Lindsey was back in cooking mode again for dinner and she made a shrimp and three cheese alfredo. Again, delicious.

Yummy! We could get used to this!

The sun is supposed to shine all day today, so it's going to be a work day. We'd love to get out for a hike, but we've had more rain this year than in past years, so we have to work while the sun is shining.

Have a great Sunday!

The Weber Q1000 is the best little camping grill available. It's what we use, and we would have no problem recommending it!

    1. Yes, it is nice to have someone else around that loves cooking, now we can share the task, so we both get breaks from meal making.
