Lagostina comes through again!

A couple of weeks ago, I told you  about a frying pan that we had bought that where the coating went bad within six months. I think it had a ten year guarantee, but the company wanted us to send it back to them on our dime for their "inspection". I got through to someone who would listen to my story, and they sent us a prepaid courier bill so we could send it in free. We've owned Lagostina cookwear since my parents gave us a complete set as a wedding present 32 years ago...and we still use that same set today!

Yesterday in the mail, we received a new frying pan.

And they sent us the next level up in quality! This one actually has a heavier base and a steel handle, and comes with a 15 year guarantee.

And so, Lagostina comes through again. A few years ago, we had a problem with a handle on our original set that has a lifetime guarantee and it was replaced no charge then too.

A nice 12v cooler is on sale at a dirt cheap price this morning. It will sell out, so you'll have to be quick...

  1. We also use Lagostina and could not be happier, but it's great to know they value their customers and treat them with the respect they deserve.

    1. Agreed! Our pots and pans from our wedding have lasted really well and we certainly couldn't be happier with them. I think with this frying pan it must have been a defect because I never use anything sharp or metal in it and never have them on a really high temperature so we were happy to see them come through with flying colours on their customer service.

  2. Those thermoelectric heater/coolers are versatile, and at just $54, a LOT cheaper than the $325 I paid for my similarly sized 12V compressor-driven unit, which I bought after reading of your experiences with them in Africa. But the cheap thermoelectrics are terribly inefficient and do not cool properly when the ambient temp is above 80°F---so you do get what you pay for, at least eventually.

    1. So glad to hear that you bought one of those compressor-driven units, we really liked the one we used in Africa and it is what we will look for as well if our fridge in the RV ever gives out. As for these other little coolers, I think they are just meant as a temporary cooler, not one that you would continually use for camping more for a picnic. It also helps if you plug them in a few hours before to cool them down and then put cold food and drinks in rather than just putting room temperature stuff in a warm cooler, it would then be very inefficient in hot temperatures.

  4. I hope the steel handle doesn't get hot! I find they do on my Paderno pots, also the lid handles.

    1. I guess we will see when we use it. I think my big Lagostina frying pan has a metal handle. If it does get hot then I will just use a oven mitt on it.

    1. It is great to have good customer service and we like to tell it like it is good or bad. We do agree though, you hear more about bad service and not enough about good service.

  6. So you do know where that coating goes when it comes off the pan right?

    1. Well we're not assuming that it just magically disappears!
