Warranty claim update...

Ruth and Lindsey took the kids in to Swift Current yesterday to do the weekly shopping. While there, Lindsey and the kids went to the local swimming pool and had some fun in the water for an hour while Ruth went and did a few errands on her own.

She stopped in at the Salvation Army thrift store to see if they had a decent used pot for the house here at the park, but couldn't find anything worthwhile. However, while she was there, she did find something worthwhile!

Our regular readers know that we're big fans of Merrell footwear. Especially when we can buy it at a good price!

Merrell sandals...for $3.00. Now that's a good deal!

Lots of tread wear left.

New, Merrell sandals cost between $75 and $100 bucks. So $3 is a pretty good deal!

From there, she went to the post office and sent in her Asus laptop for warranty work. Now, I have to admit that Asus warranty is pretty good. Included is a one year "drops and spills" warranty, so if you screw up it's still covered. And, they've been really good about the process of the warranty claim, with 24 hour phone service. And they did everything they could to try and fix the problem over the phone.

But, that didn't work, so we had to send it in to Markham, Ontario (just outside of Toronto) to their official repair center.

Fortunately, they also guarantee 3 day turnaround from the time they recieve it, so we should have it back by the end of next week, if we're lucky.

The down side is that they only pay for one way delivery. So the $20.62 it cost to send it in should be our total cost of the repair.

On another note, I had posted to Ape Case's facebook page that I wasn't very happy with the warranty terms for the camera bag zipper that had (again) gone bad. I wasn't expecting a response, since I didn't get any when I mentioned it to them the first time a year ago.

But, I got the following reply...

We are sorry to hear about the quality issue you experienced and lack of response from the Norazza team…..both unacceptable! We take great pride in our product quality and the service we provide our customers and would appreciate it if you would take a moment to contact us at [email protected] with a little more detail? We’d like to help.

I sent them an email, so I guess we'll see. But it shouldn't have to get this far. They should make it easy to make a warranty claim. You shouldn't have to be the squeeky wheel that gets the oil.

Sadie found this pretty moth outside one of our bathrooms.

Yesterday's header picture was of our low lake water level, and I wanted to show you a comparison picture of what it's like when it's close to full...

Now.

And when the lake is full.

Should be a busy weekend for us. With a beautiful weather forecast, there should be a lot of the seasonals bringing their trailers in and hopefully there will be some more kids around for Cameron and Sadie to play with.

Some of the stuff you can find on Amazon is kind of different. How about this inflatable outdoor bubble tent? Not sure who would buy one at that price, but it's worth it just to read some of the reviews...they're hilarious!

  1. Indeed a great deal on the sandals. It looks like the lake will stay low this year.

    1. I couldn't believe the deal I got on them! I have been wanting a pair of sandals similar to these ones and was even prepared to buy "new" ones.

Time will tell, even if it can come up high enough that the boats can launch like last year, would make us happy. We are still waiting for the snow melt from the mountains to make it's way here which should be in the next week or two.

    1. Yep, I laughed hard on a few of them! :-)

Love my "new to me" sandals, and especially the amount that I paid for them.

  3. Good deal on the shoes, I picked up a pair of real good men's like new hand sewn leather dress shoes the other Day at the thrift store in New Hamburg for 6 bucks. Checked on line they are $155.00 new, my old ones were toast cheap vinyl. Lots deals to be found in these stores.

    1. I think I was more excited about these sandals then I was the hiking shoes when you were with us. I think that might be because I really wanted a good pair on walking sandals. :-)

  5. Methinks the sandals are a slightly better deal than the tent, even with the toenail fungus.

    1. Yeah, I think perhaps they were! I take it you don't care for the colour of my toenail polish! ;-)

  7. Wow would be tuff to launch a boat with it that far below the ramp!! LOL Not too much snow in the mountains hopefully enough to fill the lake.

    1. We are trying to stay optimist about the water level, and keeping our fingers crossed that it will get high enough to launch boats but it certainly isn't looking like it will happen at the moment.
